OperationHow does quad-motor drive differ from single-motor cleaners?
Quad motors enable simultaneous front and rear drive and in-place rotation, which is what lets the unit climb walls and hold a lateral line at the waterline. Single-motor designs rely on random-walk paths or cable guidance. Aiper’s path planning is WavePath 2.0, computed live during the cycle rather than from a stored map.
OperationDoes the S1 Pro work in cloudy or algae-heavy water?
There is no map to build, so there is no calibration step to fail in cloudy water. The unit detects walls, steps and obstacles at close range with four infrared sensors. What heavy suspended debris does affect is the filter: it loads the 5 L basket faster and restricts intake, so netting or pre-skimming before a cycle is still worthwhile.
OperationWhat battery runtime can I expect?
Aiper specifies up to 180 minutes. Actual runtime depends on how much wall and waterline work a cycle includes, since climbing draws more current than floor travel.
OperationWill it work in my above-ground pool?
Aiper positions the S1 Pro for in-ground pools. Wall climbing and the WaveLine waterline pass assume a near-vertical sidewall. Floor-only cordless models suit above-ground applications better.
OwnershipHow often do consumables need replacement?
The filter is a dual-layer assembly: a 180 micron basket that is rinsed and reused, and a replaceable 3 micron MicroMesh element. Rinse the basket after cycles and replace the element when it no longer clears. Aiper publishes no fixed replacement interval.
OperationCan I control it from inside my home?
WiFi scheduling via the Aiper app enables remote cycle setup and status checking. Matter or HomeKit integration not confirmed in current firmware; check Aiper support for platform updates.
