Neato D8
The D8 delivered credible Level III navigation when it launched in 2021. Neato's 2023 closure ended firmware updates and OEM parts, and Vorwerk's October 2025 shutdown took the app features with it. The hardware still navigates by LaserSmart LiDAR and still runs from the button, but a D8 bought today is a robot with no app, no updates and no manufacturer behind it.

Living with it.
Solid navigation; ecosystem collapse eliminated OEM support by 2023.
Owner reports 2021-2023 show stable navigation and low brush-motor failure rates. Post-shutdown, firmware stagnation and inaccessible app servers introduced operational friction.
