OperationDoes the Worx Landroid L WR155 require burying a boundary wire, or does it support virtual boundaries?
It requires a physical boundary wire. Virtual boundaries via app or GPS are not supported. The wire must be installed at the yard perimeter; installation typically takes 1-3 hours depending on property shape and size.
OwnershipWhat does the AIA technology do, and does it replace the need for boundary maintenance?
AIA stands for Artificial Intelligence Algorithm, and it is a path-planning feature. Worx describes it as letting the mower work through narrow passages and cut in systematic patterns rather than at random. It is not obstacle sensing. As shipped, the WR155 finds obstacles by bumping into them, and obstacle avoidance is one of Worx’s separately purchased add-on modules. AIA does not change the boundary wire’s role, which is still the only thing telling the machine where the property ends.
CompatibilityCan the WR155 be controlled entirely from a smartphone app, or does it need manual start buttons?
Either path works. The machine carries an onboard LCD and control dial, and scheduling and start/stop can be set from it without the app or an internet connection. The app adds remote scheduling, start/stop and alert notifications. The charging base still has to be positioned and powered, and the robot starts its cycles from it.
OperationWhat is the runtime, and how many charge cycles does a half-acre property require?
Runtime is approximately 90 minutes per charge. A half-acre property typically requires one to two full charge cycles depending on grass density and blade sharpness. The base is a fixed charging dock; the mower drives itself back to it, charges, and drives out again on its own.
OperationIf the WR155 crosses the boundary wire or gets stuck, what happens?
If it detects the wire signal, it stops and reverses. If it physically crosses and loses wire signal, it stops. Manual retrieval and repositioning inside the boundary is required. The app sends an alert, but the robot does not self-recover.
