ComparisonHow does the matrix-grid pattern work versus random coverage?
Matrix Clean runs multiple passes in a grid over a targeted area rather than a single sweep, and Shark credits that pattern with a 30 percent improvement on carpet. The robot maps with 360 degree LiDAR and follows the mapped layout rather than bouncing at random.
OperationCan the Matrix Plus handle two-floor homes?
One dock, one level. Each floor needs its own mapping session, and the base has to be carried with the robot or duplicated per level, which is where the convenience of a self-empty dock stops.
OperationHow often must the water tank be refilled?
Shark specifies a 300ml tank. Refilling is fully manual: the base moves debris only and neither holds nor transfers water, so a large floorplan means interrupting the run to refill. This is the main limit on unattended mopping.
OperationWhat happens when the robot gets stuck under furniture?
The app sends an alert and the robot signals audibly. It backs itself out of minor blockages; wedging under low furniture needs manual retrieval, after which it resumes from the map.
OperationWhere should the base be placed?
The base is a bagless self-empty dock for debris only, with no water in it, so flooring type is not the constraint it would be under a wet dock. It needs a level spot with clear space in front so the robot can align to the charging contacts.
OwnershipHow long does the mop pad last before replacement?
Shark documentation specifies pads are reusable and machine-washable. There is no dock wash cycle, so the pad is rinsed or laundered by hand between runs, and service life varies with water hardness and floor type. Replacement pads cost $15-20 per pair.
CompatibilityDoes the robot work with existing smart ecosystems?
Wi-Fi and Alexa are built-in; Matter is not supported. Google Home integration routes through Google’s Shark integration, not native. Manufacturer documentation confirms no HomeKit support.
