OperationDoes the Jet Bot AI+ work without SmartThings?
No. SmartThings is Samsung’s app for this machine and there is no separate vacuum app to fall back on. The map, zones, scheduling and Jet Live all live in SmartThings, and an account is required at setup. Once a schedule is stored the robot completes cycles offline, but setup and control are not optional.
OwnershipHow often does the brush require cleaning?
Weekly removal and detangling is typical in homes with pets or longer hair. The brush and its cover lift out by hand and are washable. Neglect reduces suction; it does not affect object recognition or mapping, which run from the front-facing camera and 3D sensor rather than from the roller.
OperationDoes LiDAR work in sunlit rooms?
LiDAR performance degrades in direct sunlight and against bright reflective surfaces, which can pause navigation mid-room. Samsung publishes no guidance on covering reflective areas or scheduling around sunlight, and no figure for how often it occurs.
OperationWhat can the camera see, and where does the video go?
Jet Live puts the robot in Patrol mode, drives it to up to five spots the owner saves, and streams live video from the onboard camera to the phone, with a notification when motion is detected. Patrols can be scheduled as often as hourly. The video reaches the phone through Samsung’s servers rather than staying on the home network.
CompatibilityWhat happens if WiFi drops during cleaning?
The vacuum completes the current cycle offline using stored map data and returns to dock automatically. Geofencing and app-triggered schedules require reconnection; SmartThings automation does not activate until WiFi restores.
OperationCan it map multiple floors independently?
Yes. The Jet Bot AI+ stores separate LiDAR maps per floor and allows no-go zones per map. Manual placement on floors required; it does not climb stairs autonomously.
