OperationDoes the KR282 need a perimeter wire buried in the lawn?
No. The boundary is taught in the app and held by RTKn positioning, with corrections delivered over the mower’s built-in 4G. Kress states the RTKn line reaches centimeter accuracy without any property-specific stationary antenna, so there is nothing to bury and no base station to site. Setup time is roughly 30 minutes for app configuration and charging-station placement.
OperationWhat is the KR282's maximum slope capability?
Manufacturer specifications list 84% grade (roughly 40 degrees). Owner reports confirm reliable operation on steep hillsides exceeding 60% where typical wire-free mowers lose traction. Wet grass or ice will reduce actual grip below the rated ceiling.
OperationIs there an antenna or base station to install and maintain?
No. That is what the superscript n in RTKn refers to: Kress runs its own correction network, reaching the mower over its integrated 4G, and states this delivers centimeter accuracy without property-specific stationary antennas. Nothing is mounted on the house or in the yard, so there is nothing to clean, recalibrate or replace. Upkeep is the mower: blades, deck, wheels and charging contacts.
OperationDoes the EyePilot camera feed stay local, or does it transmit off-device?
Kress describes EyePilot as stereo cameras running V-SLAM on a dedicated onboard AI chip, making decisions in real time; when satellite reception is blocked the mower switches to Vision Mode and keeps navigating, which requires perception to run on the machine. Beyond that, Kress publishes no position on whether imagery is retained or sent off the mower, and no option to disable the cameras is documented, so off-device handling is unverified. Separately, the mower carries an embedded SIM with five years of included data service and holds a connection whenever it runs.
OperationWhat is the runtime on a single charge, and can it cover a half-acre yard?
Kress publishes an average mowing time of 60 minutes per charge with a 60-minute recharge, on a 20 V / 6.0 Ah pack. The KR282 is the 2000 m² model, about half an acre, which is the area it is rated to maintain across charge cycles rather than in one run. Steep terrain, dense grass and obstacles reduce time on a charge. Cutting width is 8.7 in, with cutting height electrically adjustable from 1.57 to 3.54 in.
