The Pool Nerd's own test run (photo captioned 'Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus crossing the floor of our test pool') reports it cleans the floor and had 'no issue climbing and vacuuming the walls', but 'it does not clean the waterline' and with only the standard mesh panels it 'struggles with the really fine stuff like dust, pollen, algae, and super fine sediment'. The owner still brushes the tile line by hand, so the loop closes with a person.

OperationDoes the Nautilus Plus handle above-ground pools?

No. The wall-climbing design and weight are engineered for in-ground pools only. Above-ground owners should use suction or pressure-side robots.

OperationHow long does a cleaning cycle run?

There is no battery. The unit is mains-powered through a poolside transformer and runs a fixed cleaning cycle, two hours as standard, then shuts itself off. A programmable weekly timer restarts it. The 60 foot swivel cable sets how far it can reach; it does not set a runtime.

OwnershipHow often do I need to clean or replace the filter?

Maytronics instructs owners to rinse the filter cartridges after every cleaning cycle. The top-load basket and the rapid water release are designed so that takes a minute or two. The cartridges themselves are replaced every few months depending on debris load, not every cycle.

OperationCan the Nautilus Plus climb vinyl pool walls?

Yes. The unit has no suction cups. It climbs on rubber tracks, and the pump drawing water through the body is what holds it to the surface, which works on vinyl as it does on tile, fiberglass and plaster. If wall climbing weakens, the first things Maytronics points at are a dirty filter and pool water chemistry, because both act on that same mechanism.
