OperationCan the Roomba 960 clean multiple rooms without returning to dock between runs?
It maps only for the length of a job. The 960 builds a working map while it cleans, uses it to cover the floor systematically, then discards it when the run ends. Persistent maps, room labels and room selection arrived with Imprint Smart Mapping on the later i-series, so there is no way to send this robot to a single room or zone. iRobot rates it at up to 75 minutes per charge.
CompatibilityDoes the Roomba 960 work without Wi-Fi after initial setup?
Only for immediate cleaning. The 900 series carries CLEAN, HOME and SPOT buttons and nothing else; the day and time scheduling buttons of the earlier 800 series were dropped, and scheduling on this generation exists solely in the iRobot HOME app. Without Wi-Fi you can press CLEAN to start a job, but you cannot set a schedule.
ComparisonWhat is the actual runtime on sealed hard floors versus mixed floor homes?
iRobot rates the Roomba 960 at up to 75 minutes per charge. Carpet raises motor load and shortens a session below the rated figure. The 90 minute rating belongs to the Roomba 980, the 960’s more expensive sibling, which carries the larger battery.
