OperationWhat happens if suction fails mid-cleaning?
The fall protection is what takes the load. Ecovacs specifies 8 hardware-based fall-protection measures, including automatic air pressure compensation and a floating cleaning cloth plate, inside a 12-stage hardware and software protection system, with the safety rope in the compound cable rated to a tensile strength of up to 100 kg and the 5.2 kg station held down by over 800 N of suction. Ecovacs also provides insurance cover for damage caused by a loss of suction. Retrieval is manual: the robot is lifted off the glass by hand. Ecovacs publishes no rope inspection interval.
OperationCan the W2 Omni clean textured or specialty glass surfaces?
Ecovacs states the model for the window types it names: floor-to-ceiling, small, frameless and tilting, indoors and on exterior faces. Curved glass and heavily textured surfaces are not among them, and both work against a suction seal that assumes a flat plane. Frosted or coated flat glass sits between the two and has not been established either way here.
OwnershipHow long does pad replacement take, and what do pads cost?
About two minutes. The pads are washable and reusable rather than model-specific consumables: Ecovacs sells them at $29.99 for two, shared across the W2 Omni, W2 Pro and W2 Pro Omni. No change interval is published; the cue is fabric that no longer holds water evenly.
OperationDoes cold weather affect performance noticeably?
Wet cleaning has a practical floor in freezing weather, because the working medium is water on the glass. Ecovacs publishes no operating temperature range and no warranty temperature clause for this model that could be verified, so no figure is stated here.
OperationWhat does the station actually do?
It is a portable dock rather than a service base. Ecovacs lists it as control panel, charger, stabilizer and portable storage, with an automatic cable take-up and a compartment for the robot and its accessories. Its six buttons are Automatic Take-up, Power on and off, Start and Pause, Cleaning Mode Selection, Back to Start Point, and Unlock Suction Cup. It holds no water and washes no pads, and it is not mounted to a wall. It is also the anchor for the fall-protection system, which is why the surface it sits on matters.
CompatibilityWhat connectivity options are available beyond the smartphone app?
The W2 Omni supports WiFi and Bluetooth. No Matter, HomeKit or Alexa integration is documented. The station panel covers power, start and pause, mode selection, cable take-up, Back to Start Point and suction cup unlock without the app.
OperationHow much electricity does the station consume when idle?
Ecovacs publishes no standby draw figure for the station, and no verified measurement could be located. The station charges the robot and coils the cable; it has no heating element, no pump and no drying fans.
ComparisonCan more than one station be used on the same property?
