OperationDoes the Dyson 360 Vis Nav self-empty?
No. The dock is a stationary charging base only. The dustbin requires manual emptying, typically every 1-3 runs in high-shedding homes and every 3-5 runs in low-shedding homes. There is no consumable base cost, but emptying is more frequent than with self-emptying competitors.
OperationCan the 360 Vis Nav handle stairs?
No. Like all robot vacuums, it is floor-only. The optical cliff-detection prevents drops on open stairs, but the robot will not actively navigate staircases. Multi-floor homes require multiple robots or manual carrying between levels.
OperationHow long does the battery last on a full charge?
Dyson rates runtime at up to 65 minutes in Quiet mode. Runtime drops substantially in Boost mode and varies with floor type and carpet depth. The robot returns to the dock to recharge and resumes where it left off when a session exceeds one charge.
OperationDoes the Dyson 360 Vis Nav require physical boundary strips?
No. The vision system maps the home on the first run; the MyDyson app lets you draw no-go zones digitally without physical strips. Boundaries can be redrawn at any time if you rearrange furniture.

Optical obstacle detection helps prevent trapping, but tight under-furniture fits can still snag it. Manual retrieval is required. Owner reports show fewer snags compared to budget models lacking optical detection, but this remains a category-wide limitation for vacuums under 4 inches in profile.
