Owner reports · manufacturer documentation

LiDAR and drive mechanics proved stable through 2018-2023; discontinuation ended all support.

Owner reports showed reliable LiDAR mapping and navigation, occasional side-brush wear, and typical filter-clogging patterns. No major firmware crises documented before the company ceased operations.

Common questions

What buyers actually ask.

3 answered
Compatibility
Does the Neato D4 work without the app after the company shut down?
The robot can navigate using its LiDAR sensor and clean in patterns without the app. However, it cannot be scheduled remotely, controlled from a smartphone, or use virtual boundaries, all features that required Neato’s cloud service.
Operation
What happens if I buy a used Neato D4 today?
The vacuum will clean if charged and started manually from the power button. All app integration is permanently offline. You lose scheduling, no-go zones, and remote commands, leaving only basic local operation.
Comparison
How does the D4 compare to the D7?
The D4 has the same LiDAR navigation and D-shaped design but weaker suction (around 3000 Pa vs. 4000 Pa) and smaller dustbin. Both are discontinued; both lost cloud support in 2023.
