OperationHow do the cameras and the LiDAR divide the work?
LiDAR SLAM builds and stores the map and tracks the robot’s position, which is why navigation does not depend on room lighting. The two 1600×1200 RGB cameras and the structured light projector feed obstacle recognition, identifying more than 120 object types and avoiding items down to 5 mm. Recognition is the part that benefits from light; position tracking is not.
OperationCan the Freo Z Ultra's mop pads be washed without the dock, or is the dock required?
Manufacturer specifies that pads are washable manually, but the dock’s hot-water wash and drying cycle are built into the autonomy promise. Manual washing defeats the convenience advantage; owners typically rely on dock cycles.
OperationHow often does the station's water tank need refilling?
Weekly for typical daily operation, sooner in larger homes; the clean tank is refilled and the dirty tank emptied on the same visit. Wash water is pumped into the dirty tank at the end of each wash and the pads are then dried with warm air, so nothing is left standing in the station between cycles.
OperationDoes the Freo Z Ultra work in a multi-floor home?
Yes. LiDAR SLAM 4.0 maps a level in about six minutes, stores more than one map, and the robot identifies which floor it has been set down on. The station stays where it is plugged in, so a run on another level ends where the robot was placed unless the station is carried up with it.
OperationWhat is the battery runtime, and does it complete a typical home in one charge?
Runtime is documented at 150 minutes on hard floors under standard conditions. Homes over 2,500 sqft may require mid-cycle return to dock for recharge. Carpet increases power draw, reducing effective runtime to 100-120 minutes.
