TechGearLab's hard surface tests found the N79S "didn't actually collect very much of the flour at all, merely squeegeeing it around and accumulating it under the robot," sprayed rice and oats to the side, and its performance "plummeted" to failing to collect any of the mini-wheats. It clears loose surface debris on a schedule, and a person finishes the rest.

Just using auto tends to leave crumbs and mess around the edges," describing the movement as an 'ice hockey' method. No. Ecovacs discontinued the N79S in 2019 as the company shifted to mapped navigation. New units are extremely rare; used inventory occasionally appears at inflated prices.

CompatibilityCan the N79S connect to an app?

Yes. The S in N79S denotes the Wi-Fi version. It pairs with the Ecovacs app over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for start and stop, cleaning mode, scheduling and status, and it works with the Alexa skill and with Google Assistant. An infrared remote is also in the box, with its own schedule and clock buttons. What it does not have is a map: there is no floor plan in the app and no zone or no-go control.

Ecovacs rates it at up to 110 minutes. Actual runtime varies with floor type, suction mode and debris load, and on a machine of this vintage it also depends on how much of the original battery capacity is left.
