Robomow documentation supports surface-laying with staples or burying at 1-3 cm depth. Surface installation is faster but risks damage from foot traffic and garden tools; manufacturer guidance recommends burying for permanent installations.
OperationWhat happens if the RS630 encounters a wire break mid-season?
It stops where it stands. A break removes the loop signal the mower uses to locate the boundary, so it raises a no-loop-signal fault and holds position; it cannot drive back to a base station it has no boundary reference for, which means walking the lawn to find a stopped 45 lb machine. Power it off before lifting: the lift-and-tilt sensor stops the blades when the machine is raised, and the child lock prevents an unintended start. Owner reports describe wire breaks as the most common service event, typically caused by edging tools or aerators cutting across the buried wire.
OperationCan the RS630 handle Bermuda or St. Augustine grass, or is it calibrated for cool-season turf?
Robomow documentation does not restrict the RS630 to specific grass types. Owner reports from warm-climate regions note the mower handles Bermuda and Zoysia effectively when cutting frequency is set to keep clippings short; thick St. Augustine may require more frequent scheduling.
OperationDoes the RS630 work in rain, and should it be scheduled for wet conditions?
The mower carries a rain sensor and will pause and return to base when rain is detected. Manufacturer guidance advises against mowing wet grass for both cutting quality and slope traction reasons; most owner configurations use the rain sensor as a default safeguard.
CompatibilityIs the RS630 Wi-Fi connected, and is the app required for normal operation?
Over Bluetooth Low Energy, not Wi-Fi. Robomow’s support documentation states the app communicates with the mower over BLE, and there is no Wi-Fi radio in the RS630, so it does not join a home network. Scheduling and configuration are set from within Bluetooth range, and once a schedule is set the mower runs it without the phone. Control from off the property goes through the mower’s GSM cellular module and the MyRobomow web app rather than a router.
