LiDAR mapping is real, and the dock genuinely was a four-in-one for 2021: it sweeps, mops, washes the pads and then hot-air dries them in place. The trade-off sits elsewhere. The two spinning pads are fixed to the underside and do not lift, so carpet means taking them off by hand first.

OperationHow does the W10's mop-washing dock work compared to newer all-in-dock systems?
The dock spins the pads against water with agitation, scrubbing rather than soaking, then dries them with hot air while they stay on the robot in the dock; drying is quoted at as little as two hours. Nothing is removed or hung up between runs. Dreame marketed the W10 on exactly this cycle: sweep, mop, wash, dry.
OperationDoes the W10 handle multi-floor homes without remapping?
Yes. LiDAR builds persistent maps and the W10 stores three floor plans, recalling each layout on return without remapping. The mop pads do not lift, though. Dreame’s guidance is to take them off before vacuuming carpet, and no-mop zones are drawn in the app rather than handled by the hardware.
OperationWhat is the battery runtime and can it cover a full 3,000+ sqft home on one charge?
Battery is 6,400 mAh at 14.4 V, about 92 Wh. Dreame rates runtime at up to 210 minutes, covering roughly 3,229 sq ft on a charge. Actual coverage depends on floor plan efficiency and suction level; multi-room homes may still require a return-to-dock mid-clean.
OperationIs the W10 dependent on Xiaomi cloud services or can it work locally?
The W10 is set up and operated through the Xiaomi Home app and routes its commands through Xiaomi’s cloud. Dreame documents no local API and no MQTT interface for this robot; the local-broker setups discussed in owner communities require rooting the device and are outside anything the manufacturer supports. Cloud-free operation is not available out of the box.
OwnershipHow often do mop pads need replacing and what is the cost?
Manufacturer recommends replacement every 4–6 weeks of heavy use. Official Dreame pads cost $12–15 per pair. Lifespan extends if the dock’s hot-water wash is used weekly; owner reports suggest 8–10 weeks with proper maintenance.
ComparisonWhat is the suction power and how does it compare to 2024 flagship models?
4,000 Pa maximum. This is mid-range for 2021 and below current flagships (which run 10,000–22,000 Pa). Adequate for hard floors and low-pile carpet; pet-heavy homes report visible dirt on high-pile surfaces that higher-suction models clear in one pass.
