Autonomy Ladder

Why Level III.

One five-rung scale, every category, from acting only on command to working unsupervised anywhere.

VGeneralized AutonomyAny task, any setting. No consumer robot has reached it.
IVEnvironmental AutonomyCopes with everyday clutter and frees itself, shown by independent testing.
To reach Level IVIndependent testing shows it avoids ordinary obstacles before contact, copes without the space being cleared, and frees itself when stuck.
IIIConditional AutonomyThis robot

Dreame Aqua20 Pro Ultra Roller X Complete finishes whole jobs in a space it already knows, and still needs a person at the edges.

Navigation and control

OmniSight 4.0 with AstroVision cameras and VersaLift sensor
Why this level
- Dreame describes OmniSight 4.0 navigation with AstroVision cameras and a VersaLift sensor that recognizes more than 320 object types and obstacles as small as 10 mm, running scheduled vacuum, steam and mop passes dock to dock.
- That is a Level III design; the classification is provisional until shipping units are tested.

IIAssisted AutonomyRuns preset routines; stalls at anything new.
IManual AutomationOne action on command; no independent operation.

Human Readiness

Pre-release.

One question: what does buying this robot today walk you into? The state is computed from the record, and recomputed daily.

Pre-releaseThis robot

Dreame Aqua20 Pro Ultra Roller X Complete has not shipped to consumers, and a readiness rating is a claim about buying today.

Until consumer shipping starts, the Pre-Release Assessment carries the evaluation; the readiness clock starts at general availability.

The hatched tail is unreachable by construction. A projection does not publish as a full mark, because the evidence that settles it does not exist yet: whether the thing ships and works in ordinary use. Those 10 points are what shipping has to earn.

The reading

Promising: a dated, priced launch from a maker with several shipped roller-mop generations, carrying one genuinely new subsystem in its 356°F steam source. Announced 3 Sep 2026. Pending shipping evidence.

Track Record35% of the assessment88

What this asks

Has this maker shipped what it demoed before, on schedule, with the promised capability?

What it rests on

Dreame has shipped several Ultra generations and roller-mop machines, including the Aqua10 Ultra Roller reviewed by Notebookcheck, and the X60 series shipped to European retail in 2026.

Engineering35% of the assessment78

What this asks

Are the demonstrated capabilities achievable in shipping form, or do they need breakthroughs not in evidence?

What it rests on

Roller mopping and dock hot-water washing are shipped Dreame technology; the 356°F onboard steam source is a new subsystem on a robot, and its durability is unshown.

Demo Match30% of the assessment60

What this asks

What has been shown to work, against what is claimed in marketing.

What it rests on

Shown at IFA 2026, but coverage from Vacuum Wars, Fone Arena and tbreak restates Dreame's claims, and the 99.999% bacteria figure comes from a Dreame-commissioned SGS test.

How much of the product is disclosed. Higher means fewer fundamental unknowns remain. Published beside the number; never averaged in.

Not a Robovations Scorethe two never convert into each other

This is a projection from pre-shipping signals, not a measurement. When the robot ships, the assessment is archived, a first Robovations Score is computed from the field record, and the change is logged on the tracker rather than appearing as a new number.
