Digit 5

A redesigned leg and cycloidal-actuator drive raises repeatable lift capacity 40% to 50 lb, with a safety system that sits the robot down rather than fencing it off. None of it has shipped yet.

Multiple sensor technologies drive 360-degree person detection and an avoid/stop/seat safety response; Agility has not independently detailed a general facility-mapping or obstacle-routing method for Digit 5.

Common questions

What people actually ask.

6 answered
OperationIs Digit 5 available for consumers or small businesses to buy?
No. Agility Robotics sells and leases Digit 5 only through enterprise deployment partnerships with named customers including GXO, Amazon, Schaeffler and Toyota; no retail or direct-to-consumer order path exists.
OperationWhen can a company actually receive a Digit 5 unit?
Agility has set early access for the first half of 2027 and general availability by the end of 2027. No unit had shipped to a customer as of the September 2026 unveiling.
OperationHow does Digit 5's cage-free safety system work around human coworkers?
An AI-based tracking system detects people and triggers avoidance, a stop, or a seated, power-cut position, checked by an independent safety controller rather than a physical enclosure.
OperationDoes the $300 million in Digit 5 orders mean the robots are already deployed?
No. The order, reported at over $300 million from one customer across three years, is contingent on delivery milestones and predates any Digit 5 shipment.
OperationIs Digit 5's 50-pound payload figure independently verified?
Not yet. It is a manufacturer specification; the redesigned legs and cycloidal actuators behind it have no independent field record outside company demonstrations and press briefings.
OperationWhat happened to the earlier Digit generation once Digit 5 was announced?
Agility’s prior generation continues operating at Amazon and GXO Logistics sites. Digit 5 is a hardware redesign of the same platform, not an immediate replacement of units already deployed.
