Ecovacs Winbot W2 Omni

The portable station needs no installation and travels to the work, and it is also the anchor the fall-protection system loads, so where it is set down matters as much as where the robot goes.

Optocoupler edge sensing with a 0.2 second response gives fast, systematic coverage on flat glass, and it assumes a flat plane; curved and heavily textured surfaces sit outside it.

Washable pads at $29.99 for two keep running costs low, and they are washed and dried by hand between sessions.

HUTT A1

Auto-pathing is limited to edge detection, not full-window mapping. Oversized or irregular panes may require multiple manual passes.

Corded operation eliminates battery anxiety but adds tether management and anchoring burden on higher stories.

Who each one is wrong for

Stated by the record itself. A robot being wrong for a household is a fact about fit, not a fault.

Panes the owner cannot reach to mount the robot on
The robot is lifted onto the glass by hand and taken off the same way. An exterior face that cannot be reached from an open window or a balcony is out of scope regardless of what the machine does once it is on the pane.
Curved glass and heavily textured surfaces
Ecovacs makes no claim for either, and both work against a suction seal and edge sensing that assume a flat plane. Floor-to-ceiling, small, frameless and tilting windows are inside the stated scope.
Households with few windows or infrequent cleaning
The purchase is the cost, not the upkeep: the mopping pads are washable and Ecovacs sells them at $29.99 for two, shared across the W2 series. A small pane count is where the machine has least to do.
Smart-home-first setups with voice-control requirements
Control is the station panel or the app. No HomeKit, Alexa or Google Home integration is documented for this model.
Owners needing fully hands-off operation
The robot is placed on each pane by hand and taken off by hand, and the station is carried to wherever the work is. Between panes, a person is doing the moving.

Windows with no solid indoor anchor for the safety rope
The safety rope is the fall protection, and it has to be secured to a fixture indoors or to something solid that cannot be dragged toward the opening. Where no such anchor exists within reach of the pane, the machine should not be run on an exterior surface.
Panes with no mains outlet within reach
The A1 runs on mains power through a cord; the internal battery is fall protection, not a runtime source. HUTT does not publish the cord length, so an outlet within reach of each pane is a setup requirement to confirm before purchase.
Operators unwilling to inspect safety equipment before every run
Rope condition and motor dust accumulation require checking. Maintenance is routine but non-optional for safe operation, and the rope check comes before the machine goes on the glass, not weekly.

What stays your job

  • After every use: Take the pads off, wash them by hand and let them dry fully before storing them.
  • Weekly: Wipe the suction inlet and the edge sensor windows, and run the compound cable through your hand to check for abrasion.
  • Monthly: Inspect the safety rope inside the compound cable and its attachment points, and clear dust and grit from the station’s cable take-up.
  • Seasonally: Replace the mopping pads when the fabric no longer holds water evenly. Ecovacs sells washable pads for the W2 series at $29.99 for two; no change interval is published.
  • As needed: Wipe the station body and storage compartment dry, and reseat the robot in the compartment so the cable coils cleanly.

  • Before every run: Inspect the safety rope for cuts, fraying or a damaged weave, and confirm the anchor is a fixture indoors or something solid that cannot be dragged toward the opening. Do not run the machine on exterior glass with a damaged rope.
  • Monthly: Wash or replace the nanofiber cloth; inspect the suction intake for debris.
  • Monthly: Clear spray nozzles of mineral buildup (cold-water systems).
  • Every 3-6 months: Deep-clean motor housing and sensor lenses, including the laser edge sensor.
  • On condition: Replace the safety rope when the weave is cut or the fibers are visibly worn. HUTT publishes no replacement interval, so this is an inspection call rather than a calendar one.
