Where they actually differ.

The Robovations Score is nine inputs across three pillars, each weighted as shown and each scored so that more is better. A robot can lead on one and trail on another, which is the point of showing them apart. Cost of ownership and data handling are reported on each robot's own page and are never averaged into the score.

What each design gives up to be good at what it is good at.

ANYbotics ANYmal

Site commissioning: Autonomous missions run against a learned map of the facility, so each new location needs a mapping and mission-definition pass before unattended operation. ANYbotics publishes no duration for that work.

Mission length: ANYbotics publishes 90 minutes of runtime and about 2 km of walking per charge, against a 3-hour recharge. Sensor payloads draw from the same battery, so a heavily instrumented mission runs shorter, though no per-payload figures are published.

Deep Robotics X30

The modular mount takes third-party sensors, but Deep Robotics publishes no payload compatibility matrix and no mass allowance, so qualifying a payload and predicting its effect on climbing falls to the buyer or the integrator.

IP67 sealing lets the robot work in substation spray and dust, and Deep Robotics publishes 2.5 to 4 hours of endurance with tool-free quick-swap packs. Extending a shift past that means either an operator on site to swap packs or the X30 Pro Dock, which recharges without handling but ties the route to a fixed return point.

Who each one is wrong for

Sites requiring wheeled or tracked vehicle compatibility
Legged design handles rubble, stairs, and vertical obstacles but cannot share infrastructure such as ramps and elevator call systems with an existing wheeled fleet. Integration cost is high.
Access routes beyond a 250 mm step
ANYbotics rates a 250 mm maximum step height. The robot climbs and descends industrial stairs, open grated treads included, but vertical ladders, hatches, and obstacles above that step height need a different access method.
Operators without a sustained inspection program
ANYbotics publishes no pricing; terms are negotiated per deployment and bundled with support. The economics favor an ongoing multi-year deployment over a short pilot.

Consumer or household use
Not sold through consumer channels. Priced, warranted and supported as industrial equipment, and deployment assumes professional commissioning and a site-specific safety review.
Sites outside the published operating envelope
Deep Robotics publishes IP67 sealing across -20 to 55 C and stair and slope climbing to 45 degrees. Hotter, colder or steeper sites are outside what the manufacturer states, and no field data covering them is published.
Routes longer than one charge with nobody on site
Deep Robotics publishes 2.5 to 4 hours of endurance and 10 km or more of patrol range per charge. Anything beyond that needs either the X30 Pro Dock, so the robot returns and recharges on its own, or someone on site to swap battery packs.

  • Daily: Visual sensor dome cleaning (fingerprints, dust, condensation) before missions.
  • Weekly: Joint articulation inspection for sand and debris; motor bearing listen-test.
  • Monthly: Battery health assessment; connector and seal corrosion check.
  • Annually: Thermal camera recalibration; joint seal inspection and replacement in high-corrosion environments. ANYbotics does not publish service pricing.
  • As needed: Foot pad replacement as tread wears; firmware and software updates through the support team.
Deep Robotics X30
  • After every use:Rinse dust or spray residue from the shell and wipe the sensor windows; check the leg joints for lodged debris.
  • Between shifts:Swap the battery pack, which comes out without tools, or return the robot to the X30 Pro Dock to charge.
  • Service intervals:Deep Robotics publishes no owner service schedule, consumable list or parts pricing for the X30. The enclosure is IP67 sealed and is not owner-serviceable: joint, seal and actuator work goes back to the manufacturer or the integrator that supplied the robot.
