Eureka J15 Max Ultra

The extending brush and mop respond to geometry, not to dirt: the robot pushes them out when it detects a corner, an edge or a table leg, and it has no way to tell a clean corner from a dirty one.

The dock’s wash and dry cycle runs on consumables: mop pads, filters, brushes and dust bags all replace on wear. Eureka lists no detergent cartridge and the base tray cleans itself, so the recurring spend is parts rather than chemistry.

Roborock Qrevo Edge S5A

The Multifunctional Dock 3.0 takes over emptying, washing, drying and refilling, but it is a full-size station that needs a permanent spot near an outlet, and its own clean and waste water tanks are still filled and emptied by hand.

Standard dock requires monthly intervention, yet the robot maps like a $1,200 flagship; capability ceiling is high, but ownership floor is unchanged.

High-pile or shag carpet homes
No published data on mop interaction with deep pile. Dust-collection alone on high-pile carpets remains a known limitation for flagship vacuums; adding mop complexity increases risk of motor load and fiber wrap.
Homes without a permanent floor position for the dock
The dock holds clean and waste water, a dust bag and a water heater. It needs a fixed spot near an outlet and is not something to move between rooms between runs.
Frequent movers or multi-home schedulers
LiDAR maps are location-specific. Re-mapping between homes adds 20-40 minutes per move. If you shuttle between two residences or plan frequent relocations, single-location autonomy becomes a friction point.
Owners needing stairs or upholstery covered
The J15 Max Ultra cleans floors only. Stairs, upholstery and car interiors need a separate handheld, which is a second purchase and a second consumable set.

The Multifunctional Dock 3.0 holds water tanks, a dust bag and a drying fan. It needs a fixed position on a hard floor next to an outlet and is not a base that gets stowed between runs.

The station collects into disposable dust bags rated for up to seven weeks. Bags, mop pads and the filter are ongoing purchases rather than washable-forever parts.
Owners wanting hands-off operation
Dust runs for weeks unattended and the mop pads are washed and dried automatically, but the station's own clean and waste water tanks are filled and emptied by hand. This is low-touch, not no-touch.
WiFi-dependent smart-home integrations
Works over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Homes running 5 GHz-only networks need a separate 2.4 GHz access point for the robot to join and stay connected.

  • Weekly: Check the side brush and main brush for hair wrap (~5 min); the dock washes and dries the mop on its own.
  • Monthly: Wipe the dock’s charging contacts; the base tray self-cleans during the wash cycle.
  • Every 2-3 months: Replace the auto-empty dust bag when the dock indicates it is full.
  • Every 3-6 months: Replace the filter and the mop pad as wear becomes visible.
  • Annually: Replace the main brush and side brush.

  • Weekly: Check the main brush and side brush for wrapped hair; refill the station’s clean-water tank and empty its waste tank.
  • Monthly: Rinse the dust filter and wipe the LiDAR window and cliff sensors with a microfiber cloth.
