Aiper Seagull SE

Floor-only design keeps the price under $500, but it means walls remain unattended; weekly manual brush needed for light algae.

Operation is independent of WiFi and app (simplicity advantage), but coverage is irregular around obstacles; pool toys must be removed before each cycle.

Wybot C1

Cordless operation removes the cable and swivel of a tethered cleaner at the cost of a bounded battery cycle: the machine runs up to 150 minutes, parks itself at the wall, and waits to be lifted out and charged rather than drawing power continuously.

Who each one is wrong for

Walls or waterline algae management
Floor-only design leaves walls and tile line untouched. Walls require manual brushing or a separate wall cleaner. Not suitable for pools where wall algae is a concern.
Cluttered pool bottoms or heavy obstacle placement
Bump-sensor navigation creates irregular coverage patterns around obstacles; pre-cleaning the pool floor (removal of toys, deck chairs) is required for reliable coverage.
Pools larger than about 850 sq ft
Aiper rates the Seagull SE by surface area, up to roughly 850 sq ft. Beyond that the 90-minute cycle will not cover the floor in one run, and the machine handles floors only, so a larger-capacity or dual-plane cleaner fits better.
Wybot C1
Pools larger than 1,615 sq ft
Wybot rates the C1 by surface area, up to 1,615 square feet. Larger pools take more than one cycle per clean, and each cycle ends with the machine coming out of the water to charge.
Owners wanting a cleaner that lives in the pool
The C1 runs a scheduled cycle, parks at the wall and comes out to charge. It is not a permanently installed or continuously powered cleaner that stays in the water between cycles.
Pools under heavy leaf and debris load
Capacity is bounded by the onboard filter, which is rinsed between cycles. Pools with steady leaf fall need skimming or a larger-capacity cleaner rather than a repeat cycle.

What stays your job

  • Weekly: Empty debris basket; rinse filter if the session was debris-heavy.
  • Monthly: Rinse the filter cartridge with a hose and let it dry fully before refitting.
  • Every 3-6 months: Inspect brushes and drive tracks for wear; check the charging contacts for corrosion and wipe them dry.
  • Seasonally: Deep-clean the chassis, then store the cleaner dry and off the charger.
  • Before every charge: Dry the unit and its charging contacts, use the supplied charger only, and charge on a hard non-combustible surface rather than unattended overnight. Both CPSC recalls on Aiper’s cordless line have been charging faults, neither of them covering the Seagull SE: the Elite Pro GS100 in August 2023 (recall 23-784, about 22,000 units, 17 reports of the battery overheating when the cord was connected without the adapter or directly to the charging port) and the Seagull Pro in March 2025 (recall 25-187, about 32,660 units, 19 reports of units melting, smoking or catching fire on charge, traced to the high-current adapter). The 2023 recall was remedied with a free Seagull Pro, the model recalled in 2025.
Wybot C1
  • After every cycle: Remove and rinse the filter with fresh water and clear the intake before the next run. Rinse the machine itself with fresh water after use in a saltwater pool.
  • Every charge: Charge the machine out of the water on a hard surface clear of combustibles, using the supplied charger and never an extension cord. The receptacle must be GFCI protected, which is a code requirement for outlets near a pool rather than an option.
  • Weekly: Clean the brush and the waterline contact surfaces to remove algae film and chemical residue.
  • Every 3-6 months: Inspect the drive brushes for wear and replace them when they stop making consistent contact.
  • Annually: Replace the filter media if flow has dropped or the material has degraded.
  • Storage: Charge the pack before storing the machine for the season and keep it out of direct sun. Store it charged, not flat.
