Husqvarna published firmware version 5366155-07A_P21-SwPkg_54.2 for the mower, paired with charging station firmware 5312252-04A_CS-P21-SwPkg_54.2, in February 2024, covering the Automower 320 NERA, 430X NERA and 450X NERA. Husqvarna’s own release notes, tracked under support article KA-70186, list support for the EPOS RS1 reference station, systematic mowing, and EPOS support by wire as the update’s new capabilities, alongside navigation and object-detection refinements.

The update installs on every mower in the three-model range regardless of whether the owner has purchased EPOS hardware; RS1 support is inert until a plug-in module and reference station are separately fitted. Husqvarna markets the EPOS Reference Station as covering up to a 500 meter radius, letting several NERA mowers on the same property share one station. Husqvarna’s support notes describe firmware updates in this series as not mandatory, though the company recommends installing them.

The 430X NERA ships in the standard boundary-wire configuration; this firmware update reaches that same mower over the air regardless of whether its owner has added the EPOS Plug-in Kit and Reference Station.

The Husqvarna EPOS Plug-in Kit pairs a plug-in module, fitted to the mower, with an EPOS Reference Station. Together they replace the boundary-wire perimeter with virtual boundaries drawn in the Automower Connect app, at a stated precision of 2 to 3 cm. The kit is compatible with the Automower 320 NERA, 430X NERA and 450X NERA.

French retailer Bernard Motoculture listed the kit at 1,499 euros including tax, with an availability reference to spring 2023; the exact month varies between the listing’s title and its page URL, so month precision is used here rather than a specific ship date. Basic Tutorials’ February 13, 2023 coverage had already flagged the kit as a separate accessory not bundled with the mower, at a Swiss list price converting to roughly the same range.

The Robovations product record for the 430X NERA notes that EPOS commissioning is a further dealer charge beyond the hardware purchase, and that a Husqvarna Cloud EPOS installation option, using no local reference station, is offered in some markets.

The Automower 430X NERA reached European dealers in spring 2023, according to market coverage summarizing the rollout, roughly five months after Husqvarna’s October 17, 2022 announcement of the NERA range.

The mower ships in its standard boundary-wire installation.
