Corded power eliminates the battery but adds tether management. There is no charging dock to maintain and no runtime ceiling, but the cable becomes a season-long fixture that needs untangling before a run, and the cleaner has to come out of the pool before anyone swims.

No dock and no cable keeps the deck clear and nothing trailing into the water, and it also means every cycle starts and ends by hand: the owner lowers the machine in, lifts it out, and rinses the filter. A recharge takes about 3 hours.

Pools farther than 60 feet from a power outlet

The cable is 60 feet, about 18.3 metres, and that is the whole working radius. The power supply must sit within reach of a GFCI-protected outlet; an extension cord is not a workaround on a mains-powered cleaner.

Owners prioritizing hands-off operation

Requires rinsing the filtration basket after runs, seasonal brush and track inspection, and winterization. The cleaner also has to come out of the pool before anyone swims. Not a set-it-and-forget-it system.

Homes with 5 GHz-only WiFi or poor signal

App-based scheduling depends on reliable 2.4 GHz WiFi. Weak coverage leads to connection drops and delayed operation.

Pools larger than 3,230 sq ft

Wybot rates the S2 by area, up to 3,230 sq ft of floor and wall. Larger pools sit outside that rating, and 210 minutes on a charge is the ceiling on a single cycle.

Owners who want the machine to empty its own filter

The base S2 ships without a dock and has no self-emptying arrangement. The filter is pulled and rinsed with fresh water after every cycle, and more often through heavy leaf fall.

Owners who want the machine to launch itself

The S2 is lifted into the pool and lifted out by hand. The WYBOT app schedules up to four runs a week on a cycle timer, but the machine has to be in the water when a scheduled run begins.
