What each design gives up to be good at what it is good at.

MOVA P70 Pro Ultra

The heated-mop dock adds convenience but commits owners to consumable cost. Pad replacements and hot-water mineral deposits drive estimated $120-160 annually beyond vacuum-only consumables.

The top suction setting carries an undocumented noise cost. MOVA publishes no decibel figure for the P70 Pro Ultra at any power level and no independent measurement exists, so the difference between running at 30000Pa and running quieter cannot be stated.

TP-Link Tapo RV30 Plus

Suction at 4,200 Pa reflects the mid-tier price point. Owner reports show capable performance on hard floors and low-pile carpet, with slower hair pickup on deep pile than 8,000+ Pa models achieve.

The auto-empty dock uses a 4 liter sealed bag that TP-Link rates for up to 70 days between changes. At that interval the consumable runs roughly five bags a year at $5-8 each, invisible at purchase but part of total cost of ownership.

Homes that need cleaning under low furniture
The robot stands 103.8 mm (4.09 in) tall, so it will not pass under sofas, beds or cabinet toe kicks with less than about 4.1 inches of clearance. Nothing in the app changes that; the areas it cannot enter stay uncleaned.
5GHz-only or unstable Wi-Fi networks
Setup and app control need a 2.4GHz network; there is no Bluetooth-only fallback. A dropped connection does not change how the robot cleans, since the map and path planning are onboard, but app control, the live map and app-triggered schedules are unavailable until it reconnects.
Apartments under 800 sqft with frequent manual rerouting needs
Self-mapping optimizes for open floor plans; obstacle avoidance requires clear pathways. Homes with dense furniture, small rooms, or frequent layout changes force frequent no-go-zone edits and interruptions.
TP-Link Tapo RV30 Plus
High-pile carpet or heavy pet-hair environments
Suction at 4,200 Pa sits mid-range against flagship models (8,000-22,000 Pa). Owner reports document slower pickup on deep pile and residue remaining after a single pass in heavy-shedding homes.

Auto-empty dock reduces bin-emptying frequency but does not eliminate all maintenance. Monthly dust-bag replacement and dock filter cleaning are required.

  • Monthly: Rinse or replace the filter cartridge (~$8-12).
  • Every 3-6 months: Inspect the side brush and replace it if the bristles have flattened (~$6-10 per pair); clear mineral deposits from the wash tray and water path with a descaler intended for appliance water circuits, not vinegar.
  • As needed: Replace the dust bag when it is full; MOVA publishes no fixed interval and stations of this type are generally rated in the 60 to 100 day range.
  • As needed: Replace mop pads once the pile has matted; clear fiber from the wheels and the main brush.

  • Weekly: Inspect dust bag seal in dock for visible dust leakage; wipe exterior if dusty (~1 min).
