What each design gives up to be good at what it is good at.
Cordless operation keeps cables off the deck, but it needs retrieving and about five hours of charging between runs.
EFTM saw it climb walls and steps, while Digital Reviews Network still had to tidy steps, corners and a beach entry.
A first pool robot from a vacuum maker: the camera and route-planning know-how is proven indoors, the underwater hardware is not.
Shallow-ledge cleaning is the headline claim, and nobody outside Roborock has shown it working on a real sun shelf yet.
Who each one is wrong for

- Digital Reviews Network saw it miss spots on a beach entry and stop in shallow water until a firmware update, citing a 30 cm minimum depth.
- Owners who want a truly set-and-forget cleaner
- EFTM found six of its eight modes keep running until the battery reaches 9%, and it must be removed and recharged between runs.
- Back-to-back cleaning sessions
- EFTM measured almost five hours to recharge from 9% to full.
- Owners who want voice-assistant control
- EFTM could not pair it with Google Home or run it from a Siri shortcut.
- Anyone who needs a pool robot this season
- It cannot be bought anywhere yet. The earliest reported launch is January 2027 in Australia and New Zealand, with no price and no US date.
- Buyers who rely on an established repair network
- This is Roborock's first pool robot. Its parts channel, warranty terms and service path for submerged hardware have not been published.
- Very large pools needing a published size rating
- Roborock has published a runtime of up to 3.5 hours but no maximum pool length or area, so fit for a large pool cannot be checked yet.
- Pools with persistent algae on plaster walls
- No brush type, scrub mechanism or wall-cleaning cycle detail has been published, so performance on stuck algae is undocumented.
