HOOKII Neomow X

3D LiDAR SLAM fused with vision removes the wire-burying step entirely, but HOOKII has not published the one number (max slope) that tells a hilly-yard owner whether this mower will hold traction.

Lift/tilt monitoring and an emergency stop are documented; the timing behind them is not, so a buyer gets the feature name without the number that would let it be checked.

Husqvarna Automower 405X

Onboard GPS adds Automower Zone Control, letting work areas and temporary stay-out zones be set from the app, but it does not replace the boundary wire, which is still required and is still the bulk of the installation work.

Compact size makes the 405X easy to site and store, but Husqvarna rates it for 600 m2, so a quarter-acre lawn already exceeds the rating rather than merely stretching the cutting cycle.

Husqvarna rates the 405X for 600 m2, roughly 0.15 acre. A quarter-acre lawn is already about 1.7 times that rating and a half-acre lawn about 3.4 times it. Larger Husqvarna models carry the higher area ratings.
Slopes steeper than Husqvarna's 40 percent working-area rating
Husqvarna rates the 405X for inclines to 40 percent inside the working area. Percent is not degrees: 40 percent is a rise of 40 cm over a metre, about 22 degrees. The boundary wire carries its own, lower incline limit, published separately on Husqvarna's spec sheet for the market of purchase; read that figure before routing wire across a bank.
Owners unwilling to install perimeter wire or cannot bury/mark wire
GPS alone insufficient for small boundaries; wire provides enforcement. Urban lots with neighbors or shared boundaries require wire for safety and mapping accuracy.

  • Blades: Cutting height adjustable 1.2-3.3 in (30-85mm); blade replacement interval and cost are not published by the manufacturer.
  • Boundary setup: No physical wire to bury; virtual boundaries and no-go zones are set once in the app rather than re-surveyed each season.
  • Charging station: Manufacturer does not publish a documented dock-cleaning cadence.
  • Seasonal storage: Winterization guidance was not found in the sources reviewed.
Husqvarna Automower 405X
  • Every 4 to 8 weeks (mowing season): Replace the three pivoting blades and their screws. Husqvarna specifies new screws with every blade change and does not support sharpening; a sharpened blade has lost its coating and can fail on an unattended machine.
  • Monthly (growing season): Clean the chassis, wheels and cutting disc of matted grass; inspect the charging station contacts for corrosion.
  • As needed: Clear grass and debris from the wheel wells and under the body; check the boundary and guide wire for breaks after any digging, edging or aeration work.
  • Annually: Inspect the charging station and its weatherproof seals, and tighten the chassis fasteners.
  • End of season (cold climates only): Charge the battery fully, clean the machine, and store the mower and charging station indoors above freezing. This is a cold-climate instruction rather than a design requirement; in year-round growing climates the mower stays in service.
