Greenworks Optimow 15

Wire installation is the price of entry: the Optimow 15 delivers genuine unsupervised mowing, but only after the owner commits several hours to perimeter-wire layout and staking.

Randomized cutting works, but systematic GPS-based mowing completes large areas faster and with more predictable pass distribution; the Optimow 15 trades path efficiency for a lower price tier.

Robomow RS630

Boundary wire is the RS630’s floor and ceiling: it makes coverage completely predictable, and it makes setup a 2-5 hour physical commitment that cannot be undone over an app update.

No live map in the app. Scheduling works; progress visibility does not.

The 1,500 m² coverage ceiling is a documented hard limit. Larger properties require a higher-capacity model; exceeding the rated area results in incomplete coverage cycles.
Owners who cannot or will not install perimeter wire
The Optimow 15 requires perimeter wire for all boundary definition. No GPS or camera-based wire-free operation is supported. Wire installation is mandatory, not optional.
Properties with dense obstacles or numerous internal garden beds

Wire-free setup required; no GPS or vision boundary option
The RS630 has no GPS, RTK, or camera-based boundary system. Owners who cannot or will not install perimeter wire cannot use this mower.
Yards over 3/4 acre requiring single-pass coverage
Robomow rates the RS630 to 3/4 acre, about 32,670 sq ft. Larger properties require multiple charging cycles and extended scheduling; owner reports on very large lots describe insufficient daily coverage.
Complex multi-zone yards with many narrow passages
Wire routing through multiple zones and narrow corridors adds installation complexity and can cause signal issues. Robomow's installation documentation covers multi-zone setups, but fragmented layouts with narrow connecting corridors are the harder install and the more common source of trouble.
Owners expecting real-time GPS mapping in the companion app
The RS630 app shows scheduling and status but does not provide a live map or coverage visualization. Owners accustomed to GPS-based mapping products from competitors will find the app significantly less informative.

  • After every use: Visually inspect blade disc for damage or grass clogging.
  • Weekly: Clear accumulated clippings from the chassis underside and blade housing.
  • Monthly: Inspect boundary wire and pegs along the full perimeter; re-stake any lifted sections.
  • Every 3-6 months: Replace blade disc or individual blades; standard Greenworks Optimow replacement parts.
  • Seasonally: Clean charging contacts on dock and mower body; verify boundary wire continuity before mowing season.
  • Annually: Full perimeter wire inspection; replace degraded sections; charge battery to storage level before winter.
