An industrial-robotics pedigree and a proven multi-sensor navigation approach (VSLAM plus RTK plus IMU) support the engineering claim, but this is RobotPlusPlus’s first consumer product, funded through Kickstarter, with no shipped units yet to test either claim against.

Husqvarna Automower 315X

A decade-old design means proven reliability but lower blade-carry efficiency than newer competitors. You are buying navigation stability, not cutting performance.

Husqvarna's maximum is 40 percent, about 22 degrees, inside the installation and 15 percent, about 9 degrees, for the ground the boundary wire is laid on. A yard whose perimeter has to cross a bank steeper than 15 percent is outside the installation rules even where the mowing area itself is within rating.
Wire-free operation or virtual-boundary preference
315X requires perimeter wire installation with no wireless geofencing alternative. Not suitable for properties where burial or surface-lay conflicts with landscape design.
Dense obstacle courses or heavily segmented yards
Wire-guided navigation requires continuous perimeter loop. Fragmented yards with multiple isolated grass sections demand complex wire routing or manual repositioning.

  • After every use: Clear grass clippings and debris from wheels and undercarriage if operating in wet conditions.
  • Weekly: Inspect perimeter-wire visible path for damage or displacement; test continuity with included checker.
  • Every 4-8 weeks in the mowing season: Replace all three blades and fit new screws. Husqvarna specifies new screws with every blade change, and the interval shortens on larger or faster-growing lawns.
  • Monthly: Clean dock charging contacts and mower sensor pads with dry cloth; check for moisture accumulation.
  • Every 3-6 months: Repair or replace any damaged boundary-wire segments; reconnect loose splice joints.
  • Seasonally: If not operating in winter, remove and store battery indoors above 32°F.
  • Annually: Inspect dock weatherstripping and charging cable for cracks.
