Satellite positioning here is corrected over the internet, not by an RTK base station. Published accuracy is roughly 10 to 30 cm, against the centimeter-level figures consumer RTK mowers from Segway Navimow and Mammotion had been selling at and below this price for two seasons before the Sileno free arrived. Canopy shadow degrades the fix; cloud does not.

Maintenance is seasonal, not absent. The mower mulches, so there is nothing to empty and no clippings to dispose of, but blades are a yearly consumable and the machine and its charging station both need winter storage.

Goko M6

An industrial-robotics pedigree and a proven multi-sensor navigation approach (VSLAM plus RTK plus IMU) support the engineering claim, but this is RobotPlusPlus’s first consumer product, funded through Kickstarter, with no shipped units yet to test either claim against.

Heavy overhead obstruction degrades the satellite fix below usable thresholds. A dropout ends in a stopped mower that has to be collected and restarted by hand; Gardena's guidance is open-sky operation.
Steep or clay-heavy terrain
Gardena rates the machine for 30 percent (about 17 degrees) inside the working area, with a lower 15 percent (about 9 degrees) limit at the boundary. The boundary figure governs where the virtual edge can be drawn and is the one most owners meet first. Wet clay and soft turf cost traction below either number.
Owners requiring zero seasonal intervention
Blade replacement annually and pre-winter storage are non-negotiable tasks. Subscription or auto-shipping programs do not yet exist for Gardena consumables.
Heavy-use lawns that will wear blades faster than once a year
Blades are replaced, not sharpened, and Gardena documents no mid-season replacement cadence. A rough or heavily seeded lawn means buying blade sets on observation rather than on a published schedule.

  • Weekly: Inspect wheel wells and cutting deck for compacted clippings if mowing in heavy-growth season; typical 10-15 minutes every 2 weeks in standard yards.
  • Monthly: Inspect the satellite antenna housing for debris and clean the dock contacts if docking performance degrades.
  • Every 3-6 months: Clean charging dock contacts with soft brush to prevent corrosion; inspect for ant nests or water ingress.
  • Annually: Replace the cutting blades. Robot mower blades are replaced, never sharpened: grinding weakens the protective coating and leaves an unbalanced part spinning unattended.
  • Seasonally: Winter storage is clean the machine, charge the battery fully, and store the mower and its charging station somewhere dry and frost-free. The 18 V lithium pack is internal and stays in the machine. There is no fuel system and nothing to disconnect, and a lithium pack goes into storage charged rather than run down. Spring: check positioning and boundary behavior before the first cut of the season.
