Corded power removes any runtime limit but ties the robot to an outlet: Ecovacs publishes no cable length for this model, so verify reach before planning a run across several panes.

Remote control repositioning between windows negates autonomous room-to-room sequencing. The robot maps each window; the operator initiates each zone via app or remote, disqualifying full-autonomy workflows.

Exterior panes you cannot reach to place and retrieve the unit
The robot is placed on the glass by hand and taken off by hand, and the safety pod has to be pressed onto a clean surface within tether reach before the run starts. Any pane where that cannot be done from stable footing is out of scope regardless of what the robot itself can hold onto.
Framed windows with very narrow frames
Ecovacs states the WINBOT is not to be used on a framed window whose frame is narrower than 3 mm (0.1 in). Frameless glass, mirrors and balustrades are covered by this model's edge detection; the thin-framed window is the case that is excluded.
Set-and-forget operation owners
The robot plans its own path across a pane and returns to its starting point when it finishes, but it does not move between windows. An owner places it, waits, retrieves it and repeats. There is no scheduling, no app and no unattended operation.

Single-story homes where every pane is reachable from the ground
The battery station, the cordless design and the rope setup exist to reach glass that is awkward to reach. Where a cloth and a step stool cover the whole house, most of what this machine costs goes unused.

The portable station needs an indoor outlet within reach of the window being worked. Homes with limited interior access or deep setbacks will need the station moved from room to room during a session.

  • Weekly: Inspect pads for silt or mineral film; brief water rinse if the glass-facing surface appears milky.
  • Monthly: Swap cleaning pads (~$18 per pair); clear dust from the suction fan intake.
  • Before every run: Wipe the safety pod’s suction face and the glass under it. Dust or grit trapped under the cup is what breaks the seal.
  • Every 3-6 months: Check the rubber safety tether for nicks, cuts or loss of elasticity, and confirm the pod still holds a firm seal on clean glass. Replace either if in doubt before the next run.
  • Seasonally: Store the corded unit indoors in winter; verify power cord insulation before cold-season use.

  • Before every run: Confirm the safety rope is anchored to a fixed object; check the rope for twists, knots, cuts or fraying at the anchor point.
  • After every use: Rinse microfiber pads with fresh water and air dry; inspect the suction intake for lint.

  • Every 3-6 months: Replace the microfiber pad set (~$25-35 per pair).
  • Annually: Deep-clean the battery station contacts with a dry cloth; inspect the dock charging pins for corrosion.
