The trade-off
What each design gives up to be good at what it is good at.
The roller is novel mechanical risk for a first-gen implementation: Dreame ships this as flagship hardware, yet identical mop-pad clogging issues are emerging in early forums.
Consumable cadence is unmeasured: the station washes and dries the roller after every run, and the roller, scraper and wash tray all need periodic hand cleaning. No published replacement interval for the roller exists, so the long-run consumable cost is not documented.
The FlexiArm extends the mop to the wall edge; it moves nothing. Homes with floor-level obstacle scatter still require a pre-run tidying pass or accepted avoidance routing.
7,000 Pa suction: competitive at launch in early 2024, now below the 10,000-plus Pa ratings of 2025-generation flagships. Cleaning ability in open hard-floor spaces holds up; the gap shows on carpeted zones with heavier debris.
Who each one is wrong for
Stated by the record itself. A robot being wrong for a household is a fact about fit, not a fault.
- Deep shag beyond the mop's lift
- AutoSeal Carpet Protection closes a physical guard over the roller when carpet is detected, and the mop lifts 14 mm, so carpet is isolated automatically with no mop-disable zones to draw. Pile deeper than that lift is the case the mechanism does not cover.
- Buyers prioritizing lowest maintenance overhead
- The roller, its scraper and two water tanks add cleaning points beyond a dock-empty vacuum, and the station wash tray needs rinsing whatever the automation does. No replacement interval for the roller is published, so the consumable arc is unknown.
- Networks with no 2.4 GHz band available
- The robot pairs on 2.4 GHz only and does not join 5 GHz networks. On routers that broadcast both bands under one name, the 5 GHz band has to be switched off long enough to finish pairing, and the phone has to sit on 2.4 GHz during setup. A network offering only 5 GHz cannot onboard this machine.
- Homes dominated by high-pile or shag carpet
- The 10 mm mop lift clears standard and low-pile carpet; owner reports (2024-2026) describe coverage inconsistency on high-pile and shag. Suction performance is rated at 7,000 Pa, which is moderate by 2024 flagship standards.
- Privacy-sensitive owners uncomfortable with onboard camera
- The RGB camera operates during cleaning sessions to classify obstacles. Roborock documents on-device processing, but the hardware is present and active. Owners who prefer camera-free units have other Level III options without onboard imaging.
- Compact apartments under 800 sqft with minimal clutter
- The full dock suite occupies meaningful floor space. LiDAR mapping and FlexiArm edge coverage deliver diminishing return in small, open-plan spaces where a lighter setup achieves similar results at lower cost.
- Buyers who do not need the full dock suite
- Roborock lists the Qrevo MaxV at $1,399.99 and has sold it well below that. At list price, the Dock 2.0 and FlexiArm mopping are what the money buys. Buyers who do not need hot-water mop washing or edge mopping will find comparable LiDAR navigation in less expensive configurations.
What stays your job
The upkeep ownership hands back to you, whatever the autonomy level says.
- After every use: Check the station’s clean-water tank and top up if low; empty the waste tank.
- Weekly: Rinse the roller and its scraper under running water to clear lint and hair, and wipe out the station wash tray.
- Every 3-6 months: Inspect the roller for fraying or flattened nap and replace when worn. No manufacturer replacement interval is published for this part.
- Quarterly: Descale the station wash circuit in hard-water areas, using only a descaler named for this station. Do not run vinegar or other household acids through the water circuit; they corrode pump seals and valves.
- Annually: Deep clean the station inlet passages and the water-tank filters.
- After every use: Confirm dock auto-empty cycle completed; check app for obstacle alerts or skipped zones.
- Weekly: Inspect side brush for hair tangles; clear brush guard if debris has accumulated.
- Monthly: Rinse dock wash tray and inlet to prevent mop-pad odor buildup.
- Every 3-6 months: Replace HEPA filter (roughly $15-25 per filter); inspect mop pads and swap if worn.
