What each design gives up to be good at what it is good at.

Beatbot iSkim Ultra

You are paying for a machine that works one plane of the pool continuously. A 24 W solar panel keeps it running without a cable and a magnetic wireless charger covers the days the sun does not, so the trade is not weather. The trade is that it will never clean the floor.

Polaris Freedom

Cordless convenience trades against session duration: you eliminate cable friction and dock setup, but each charge limits operation to 2.5 hours, unsuitable for pools accumulating heavy debris between maintenance windows.

App connected, but not scheduled: iAquaLink handles mode selection, battery status and cycle-complete alerts, and Polaris lists no scheduling on this platform, so every cycle still starts with someone putting the cleaner in the water.

Pools that need debris removed from the floor
The iSkim Ultra works the water surface only. Debris that has already sunk is outside its job, and floor, wall, and waterline cleaning is a separate machine.
Pools under sustained heavy leaf fall
The basket holds 9 liters and is emptied by hand. Under continuous leaf drop it fills faster than a weekly check, and independent testing has reported surface debris left behind.
Owners expecting a full-pool cleaner at this price
Beatbot lists the iSkim Ultra at $999, currently $649. That buys continuous surface skimming and built-in water clarification, not floor, wall, or waterline cleaning.
Polaris Freedom
Pools with sustained heavy debris load or peak seasonal influx
2.5-hour runtime cannot sustain multi-hour debris-collection sessions. Large leaf-fall events exceed per-charge capacity without manual pre-cleanup.
Above-ground or zero-depth entry pools requiring wall climb at launch
Wall-climb capability assumes in-ground geometry and waterline access. Deployment limitations differ substantially for above-ground installations.

  • Monthly: Rinse the 380 micrometer filter mesh with a hose and check the side brushes for matted hair.
  • Seasonally: Store the machine indoors with the battery charged rather than empty. A lithium pack left discharged over a closed season degrades.
