01 Classification

What each one does on its own.

The Autonomy Ladder is the same five rungs for every robot on the site. A rung describes the conditions a robot handles without you, not how good it is.

02 Assessment

Where they actually differ.

The Robovations Score is nine inputs across three pillars, each weighted as shown and each scored so that more is better. A robot can lead on one and trail on another, which is the point of showing them apart. Cost of ownership and data handling are reported on each robot's own page and are never averaged into the score.

03 Measured against the class

How far apart is a long way?

A number only means something next to the spread it sits in. Each track below is the real range across every classified robot in the class, with the median marked.

  • Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra$1,700

Not compared, because fewer than two of these robots carry a published figure: Suction, Runtime, Charge time, Noise, Weight, Height.

What the numbers leave out.

The trade-off

What each design gives up to be good at what it is good at.

Roborock Saros 20 Sonic

The pad is washed, not swapped. The station rinses it in hot water and dries it between runs, which removes the consumable habit but adds a station to refill, empty and descale.

Vibration effectiveness drops on unswept floors. The system assumes carpet is vacuumed first; running mopping alone on dust and debris leaves residue. Multi-floor homes benefit; single-floor vacuuming skippers may see reduced impact.

Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra

The steam is for the pads, not the floor. The Clean Station washes the mop pads at 50-60°C, sanitizes them at 100°C and dries them at 55°C. That addresses mop-pad hygiene rather than sanitizing the floor surface, and there is no floor-steaming mode on this machine.

Qualcomm AI processor is a hardware differentiator, not a proven autonomy leap. Feature parity with LiDAR-only competitors; the software advantage remains unquantified by owner reports.

Who each one is wrong for

Stated by the record itself. A robot being wrong for a household is a fact about fit, not a fault.

Roborock Saros 20 Sonic
Homes that are mostly high-pile or shag carpet
The mop lifts automatically when the AdaptiLift chassis detects carpet, so mixed floors are handled without zone tuning. A home with little hard floor is buying a mopping system it will rarely deploy.
Buyers wanting true deep-clean mopping or grout scrubbing
Sonic vibration is horizontal; it does not replicate the downward pressure and dwell time of manual or industrial scrubbing. Dried stains and grout lines are outside this robot's scope.
Owners wanting the robot to pick up clutter
The Saros 20 Sonic has no robotic arm. Roborock's OmniGrip arm is a Saros Z70 feature; this model navigates around objects rather than moving them, so floors still need clearing before a run.
Owners prioritizing lowest-cost mopping automation
Roborock lists the Saros 20 Sonic at $1,699.99. The premium buys the sonic mopping and the washing station; the standard Saros 20 shares the same navigation platform, so the gap is substantial if mopping is secondary to vacuuming.

US consumers awaiting official retail launch
No US distribution, pricing, or warranty as of June 2026. Importing carries unknown support/parts logistics risk.
Buyers who want the floor itself steam-cleaned
The 100°C steam is applied to the mop pads inside the Clean Station. There is no floor-steaming mode, so floor cleaning is vacuuming plus a freshly washed damp pad.
Budget-conscious buyers
Samsung launched the Ultra in Korea at 1.86 million won, or 2.04 million won with the automatic water station. No US price has been announced, so the landed cost sits on top of import and support uncertainty.

What stays your job

The upkeep ownership hands back to you, whatever the autonomy level says.

Roborock Saros 20 Sonic
  • Per run: The RockDock empties the bin into a dust bag, washes the mop pad in hot water up to 212F and dries the dust path with warm air, so between-run handling stays at the station.
  • Weekly: Refill the clean-water tank, empty the dirty-water tank and wipe the wash tray.
  • As prompted: Replace the dock dust bag when the app reports it full.
  • Monthly: Descale the dock water channels to prevent mineral buildup in the nozzles.
  • Every 3-6 months: Replace the main vacuum filter and side brush (same intervals as the Saros 20); the mop pad is a wear part replaced when worn rather than on a schedule.
  • As needed: Clear the LiDAR turret of dust accumulation; no parts replacement needed.
Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra
  • After every use: Empty dust bin if full (self-empty dock available).
  • Weekly: Rinse mop pads by hand or use dock auto-wash cycle.
  • Monthly: Clean filter; inspect dock nozzles for mineral deposit.
  • Every 3-6 months: Replace main brush (~$30-40); side brush as needed.
  • Annually: Descale heater (hard-water dependent); full dock cleaning cycle recommended.

Classifications rest on different depths of evidence. A pre-release assessment and a verified one are not the same kind of claim.
