You are paying for a Level III robot that does one genuinely new thing: the complete dock cycle (vacuum, 80°C mop wash, forced dry, automatic pad removal) in a single station.
The dock cycle that justifies the price also requires monthly consumable management (detergent, water, pad replacement) that simpler units do not.
You are paying Level III money for a station that washes, sanitizes and dries the pads without you, and the bill is a 44.4 by 51.0 cm floor footprint standing 54.7 cm tall plus a Samsung account to reach the scheduling.
SmartThings integration simplifies automation for Samsung-invested homes but creates vendor lock-in and limited interoperability with competing platforms.
Station-based washing and disposal reduce manual handling but move the chore rather than remove it: the clean tank is filled and the waste tank emptied by hand, and the wash and dry cycle draws 1200 W each time it runs.
Who each one is wrong for

- Without mopping requirements, the wash, dry and detergent hardware in the dock adds purchase cost and a consumable stream that a self-emptying-only vacuum does not carry.
- Multi-floor homes expecting the same automation on every level
- The dock is a single-floor installation and maps are stored per floor. Carrying the robot upstairs works, but emptying, washing and drying only happen where the dock is.
- Frequently rearranged apartments
- LiDAR map invalidation on furniture moves requires remapping sessions. Cramped layouts reduce the zone-segmentation value that justifies the premium.
- Those expecting reactive or on-demand spot cleaning
- Scheduled, session-based cleaning is the design model. Reactive spot triggers via app are possible but slower than manual spot cleaning; the dock cycle adds 20–40 minutes per session.
- Owners expecting a steam mop for floors
- Steam on this model is a Clean Station function that sanitizes the mop pads after a run. Nothing is steamed on the floor; the robot mops with two counter-rotating pads and water from its onboard tank.
- Space-constrained apartments
- Clean Station dimensions of 44.4 cm wide by 51.0 cm deep, standing 54.7 cm tall, put it well past under-sink storage. It needs a permanent floor position beside an outlet and is not moved between runs.

- SmartThings requirement creates friction for Apple Home or Google Home-native households. Third-party integration limited.

- The Clean Station has no water connection. The 4 L clean tank is filled by hand and the 3.6 L waste tank emptied by hand, on a cadence set by how much mopping the home needs.
What stays your job
The upkeep ownership hands back to you, whatever the autonomy level says.
- After every use: Review app notification for tank status; empty dock tray if detergent foam overflow occurs.
- Weekly: Clear side brush debris to maintain edge pickup. The DuoDivide dual parallel roller is rated at a 0 percent hair tangling rate, so unwinding hair from the main brush is not the routine task it is on single-roller machines.
- Monthly: Refill the 20 oz detergent reservoir; empty and refill the clean water tank.
- Every 2-3 months: Replace dust bag in dock base (Roborock bags approximately $15 for 3-pack); dock dust storage runs up to 70 days at typical use.
- Every 3-6 months: Replace main brush and side brush set (approximately $20–$30 per set); replace HEPA filter.
- By inspection: Replace mop pads when the fabric is matted or thinning. Roborock publishes no wash-cycle interval for them.
