The trade-off
What each design gives up to be good at what it is good at.
Roborock Qrevo CurvX
At 3.14 in the CurvX is Roborock’s flattest robot and gets under low furniture, but the systems that make it hands-off live in a large heated dock rather than in the machine.
Hot-water mop washing at 167 F keeps the pad clean without the owner handling it, but it commits the dock to a mains outlet, open clearance and a hot wash tray between cycles.
Automated dock integration eliminates manual emptying but adds 20-30 minute mop-washing cycles between cleaning sessions, increasing downtime.

The retracting LiDAR buys a 3.14 in profile; the 240 mL bin is the space it gave up.
Carpet and mopping results led the independent lab’s averages, while obstacle avoidance fell below its predecessor.
Who each one is wrong for
Stated by the record itself. A robot being wrong for a household is a fact about fit, not a fault.

- Homes with large mirrors or floor-to-ceiling glass
- Reflective panels at robot height can confuse optical obstacle recognition. The fix is a no-go zone in the app rather than anything the robot resolves on its own. Dark flooring is a separate matter: LiDAR is an active laser and maps a black floor, and a dark room, without difficulty.
- Multi-level homes where the robot cannot be carried between floors
- The app stores a separate map per floor, but the robot has no way to change levels on its own. A household that needs unattended cleaning on more than one floor needs a second machine or someone to move this one.
- Homes with no outlet and clearance for a heated dock
- The Multifunctional Dock 3.0 Thermo heats wash water to 167 F and dries with hot air. It needs a mains outlet, open space in front of it so the robot can approach squarely, and a position where a hot wash tray is out of reach of children and pets. A sealed closet or a tight hallway is not a workable spot.
- Buyers who want a long service record before committing
- Roborock publishes no numbered firmware changelog for this model and there is no independent long-term testing of it. The hardware is recent enough that reliability across years is not established in either direction.
- Budget-conscious buyers
- The CurvX sits in the $1,300 to $1,600 range depending on configuration and promotion. Other machines reach the same Level III classification for several hundred dollars less, without the hot-water dock or the lifting chassis.
- Homes requiring water-resistant operation on all surfaces
- Mop function unsuitable for unsealed wood, grout, or porous flooring. Owner reports confirm water damage risks; sealed tile and sealed hardwood only. Disable mop function on non-sealed surfaces.

- Floors cluttered with cords, laces and small toys
- Independent lab testing saw it avoid 14 of 24 obstacles, below average, and a hands-on review saw it suck up a shoelace in two of ten runs.

- After every run: None. The dock empties the dust bin into a bag, washes the mop in 167 F water and dries it with hot air.
- Weekly: Check the DuoDivide main brush and the FlexiArm Arc side brush for wrapped hair or thread. The brush is anti-tangle, not tangle-proof.
- Monthly: Wipe the dock charging contacts and the robot’s sensor windows with a dry cloth; rinse the wash tray once it has cooled.
- Every few months: Replace the filter and the mop material when worn. Roborock publishes no fixed interval for this model.
- As needed: Replace the dock dust bag when the app reports it full; refill the clean-water tank and empty the dirty-water tank.

- As needed: Refill the 4 L clean water tank and empty the 3.5 L dirty water tank, per a hands-on review.
