Neato Robotics

Roborock
Up to three
All robot vacuums. Every figure below is placed against the whole class, so a gap can be read against how much the class itself varies.
The conditions each robot was assessed against, side by side. Rows marked in gold are where these machines genuinely differ.
| Condition | Neato D8 | Roborock Q10 X5+ |
|---|---|---|
| Home size | ||
| Under 1,500 sqftthey differ | Good100-minute runtime covers compact homes in a single pass without recharging. | DependsRoborock publishes no runtime for this model, and no independent coverage test was found. |
| 1,500 – 3,000they differ | GoodLiDAR mapping handles mid-size floor plans; runtime sufficient for most single-story layouts. | DependsNo runtime or coverage figure is published, so larger homes are unconfirmed for one charge. |
| Over 3,000 | DependsRuntime caps at 100 minutes; large open plans may require multiple sessions without resume-from-dock support verified on all firmware. | DependsNo independent test of very large homes was found, and runtime is unpublished. |
| Primary floors | ||
| Hard floorsthey differ | GoodD-shape chassis and spiral brush perform well on hard surfaces; edge reach is a documented strength. | DependsRoborock claims 10,000 Pa suction, but no independent hard-floor pickup test was found. |
| Low / medium pilethey differ | GoodSpiral combo brush handles low-pile carpet reliably per owner reports from 2021 to 2022. | DependsRoborock lists carpet detection and boost, but no independent carpet test was found. |
| High pile / shag | DependsOwner reports describe reduced agitation and occasional navigation hesitation on dense high-pile carpet. | DependsNo independent high-pile test was found, and the mop lifts only 8 mm on carpet. |
| Mopping needs | ||
| Vacuum only | GoodVacuum-only robot — matches a vacuum-only need. | GoodVacuums first; the mop pad is optional. |
| Light moppingthey differ | PoorThis model has no mopping function. | GoodFlat mop pad handles light, routine wiping of hard floors. |
| Frequent moppingthey differ | PoorNo mop at all; choose a vacuum-and-mop robot instead. | DependsA dragged pad freshens floors but lacks the pressure or scrubbing for heavy, frequent mopping. |
| Upkeep you accept | ||
| Regular upkeep | GoodAbout 45 minutes of upkeep a month. | GoodAbout 60 minutes of upkeep a month. |
| Some upkeep | GoodAbout 45 minutes of upkeep a month. | GoodAbout 60 minutes of upkeep a month. |
| Minimal upkeep | DependsAbout 45 minutes of upkeep a month. Minimal is 30 or less. | DependsAbout 60 minutes of upkeep a month. Minimal is 30 or less. |
A robot being poor for a condition is a fact about fit, not a fault. “Depends” means the record names a limit worth reading, not that the answer is unknown.
A number only means something next to the spread it sits in. Each track is the real range across every classified robot in the class, with the median marked.
Not compared, because fewer than two of these robots carry a published figure: Suction, Runtime, Charge time, Noise, Weight.
Written on each record, and the only thing here every robot on the site carries.
What each design gives up to be good at what it is good at.
LaserSmart LiDAR navigation remains functional; everything around it (app, firmware updates, OEM parts, support) is gone.
The D-shape chassis reaches corners most round vacuums miss. The trade-off: the side brush sits exposed at the leading edge, and hands-on reviews report it catching on throw rugs and stopping the run.
Self-emptying and a lifting mop at $320, with no independent test yet to show how either performs.
Stated by the record itself. A robot being wrong for a household is a fact about fit, not a fault.
The upkeep ownership hands back to you, whatever the autonomy level says.
Classifications rest on different depths of evidence. A pre-release assessment and a verified one are not the same kind of claim.

Evidence status counts the sources behind a classification, not their kind. A high count can be maker documentation and price coverage, so read it as how much was reviewed rather than as independent testing. How we weigh evidence.
