Xiaomi’s humanoid robots just worked an eight-hour shift sorting car parts
Two humanoids sorted factory parts for eight hours without a stated error count, success rate, or word on how they stayed powered the whole shift.

Two Xiaomi humanoid robots sorted car parts on a factory floor for eight continuous hours on November 3, 2026, according to footage of the demonstration. The machines moved center-console side covers between shipping containers and storage racks, coordinating with the factory’s existing line systems for the whole shift.
Xiaomi’s most recent public benchmark was shorter: a three-hour dual-side nut-installation pilot at its Beijing EV factory in March 2026. Eight hours is more than double that run.
The footage itself limits what it shows. Portions were played back at up to 100x accelerated speed, and no outside party verified the run as it happened; the demonstration took place inside Xiaomi’s own factory, on its own schedule, with its own camera. Xiaomi does not sell a humanoid robot to consumers, and nothing in the released material describes a path from this factory floor to a home.

The eight-hour run shows the platform can sustain a sorting task across a full shift, correcting its own errors well enough to keep going, and handing off work to factory systems around it without a visible stop. That is a real jump from a three-hour pilot eight months earlier.
Almost everything else a trial like this would need to prove is missing from what Xiaomi released. The company gave no sorting throughput, no successful-handling rate, and no count of human interventions across the eight hours.
It also said nothing about how the robots were powered through the shift, whether they swapped batteries, charged in place, or ran the whole time on one charge. Without those numbers, the duration claim has nothing to be measured against, not even Xiaomi’s own prior run.
Multiple independent outlets reported the same demonstration in the days after it aired, though Xiaomi has not published the performance data behind it.
