What each design gives up to be good at what it is good at.

Narwal Flow

The FlowWash rolling track extends mop contact time vs. spinning pads but runs hotter, stressing seal durability under the 12-month warranty.

Real-time hot-water washing keeps the mop clean during the run, but heating water on every wash cycle draws more power than a cold-water dock. Narwal publishes no wattage or annual energy figure for the Flow, so the size of that difference is not stated.

Roborock Q5 Pro+

A bag-only dock and no camera obstacle avoidance keep the price down, but the floor has to be picked up before a run, and no-go zones do the work a flagship’s camera would do while cleaning.

Who each one is wrong for

High-pile or shag carpet environments
The mop track lifts 12 mm when the robot detects carpet, at the top of what this class offers, but shag stays an awkward surface for any track mop: long loops can catch on the roller.
Owners requiring hands-off operation without dock maintenance
The dock's 4.75 L dirty-water tank is emptied and its 5 L clean tank refilled by hand, and dirty water left sitting turns stale. Dust is the long-interval part: Narwal rates the 2.5 L bag at up to 120 days. Not set-and-forget.
Buyers who want a long field record first
The Flow shipped in 2025 on a track-roller mop that is new to Narwal's line. There is not yet a multi-year record of how the roller and its wash mechanism hold up.
Roborock Q5 Pro+
Mixed carpet and hard-floor homes wanting one run to do both jobs
The mop pad attaches by hand, so a run that crosses from hard floor onto carpet means taking the pad off first or fencing the carpet with no-go zones. Vacuuming carpet on its own is well covered: 5,500 Pa and the all-rubber DuoRoller dual brush are built for hair and embedded debris.
Large homes or multi-zone multi-floor layouts requiring dock auto-refill
Q5 Pro+ dock is basic auto-empty only; does not auto-refill water or offer multi-level consumable management. Mop module requires manual water refill.
Owners requiring obstacle avoidance vision (glass tables, cables, transparent barriers)
The Q5 Pro+ maps and routes with PreciSense LiDAR but carries no camera obstacle avoidance, so cables, socks and pet messes are handled with no-go zones and a pre-run tidy rather than recognized on the fly. Transparent barriers and low clearances need setting in the app.

  • Regularly: Empty the dock’s 4.75 L dirty-water tank and refill the 5 L clean tank. Reviewers report odor where dirty water is left standing.
  • Up to every 120 days: Replace the 2.5 L dust bag; Narwal rates it for up to 120 days of collection.
  • Monthly: Check the roller mop and side brushes for wrapped hair and wipe the LiDAR window.
  • As needed: Rinse or replace the dust filter if suction drops, and replace the roller mop, filters and side brushes as wear shows. Narwal publishes no fixed replacement interval or price for these parts.
