iRobot Roomba Max 775 Combo

You are paying flagship money for the dock rather than the navigation. The AutoWash Dock is not new hardware, it has been iRobot’s mop-washing base since the Combo 10 Max in 2024, but it is where most of the price and all of the floor space goes.

Hot-water capability removes manual mop-fill friction, but it shifts dock failure modes from simple (a clogged nozzle) to compound (water circulation, heating, the roller wash cycle). Recovery means dock troubleshooting, not just a part swap.

Longitudinal data is thin. The machine launched in June 2026, so owner reports on roller wear, the dock’s water circuit and long-run map stability are still sparse. The classification rests on published specification more than on accumulated field evidence.

Roborock Qrevo S5V

The FlexiArm adds edge coverage, but does not replace the main mop pads: dual-mopping translates to longer cycles and more consumable wear on homes relying on thoroughness over edge pickup.

The self-wash dock is a standing consumable expense: dust bags and mop pads run on the order of $100 to $175 a year, where a robot without a washing dock has only its own filter and brushes to replace.

Homes with frequent layout changes
The stored map is what the robot routes against, and a major furniture rearrangement means updating it before zones and schedules line up again. Lighting is not part of this: LiDAR maps in the dark.
Renters or homes with restrictive power outlet placement
The AutoWash Dock needs permanent AC power and a dedicated footprint of 17.7 x 16.7 x 17 in at about 19 lb. There is no battery-dock option, and moving the dock means the robot has to re-establish itself against the map. Smaller fixed-dock units suit temporary living better.
Owners prioritizing absolute minimum maintenance
A dock with clean and dirty water tanks is more to look after than an auto-empty base: tanks to fill and drain, a wash tray to wipe, and a debris bag to change. An auto-empty-only vacuum has one of those chores.
Single-floor apartments under 1,500 sqft seeking mop-only performance
Oversized for a mop-only home in both senses: the robot is 14.7 in front to back and the dock claims a permanent 17.7 by 16.7 in of floor. Vacuum-to-mop time is weighted toward vacuuming, and a dedicated mop unit is simpler in a compact space.

Homes with deep shag or very thick pile
The dual spinning pads raise 10 mm on carpet detection, so ordinary carpet needs no drawn no-mop zones. Pile deeper than that lift clears is a different case, and shag is still better handled with a no-go zone.
5 GHz Wi-Fi-only networks
The vacuum supports 2.4 GHz only (manufacturer specs). 5-only networks require mesh backbone or access-point downgrade.
Buyers seeking local-only operation
The Roborock app and a manufacturer account are required for setup, mapping, scheduling, and zone control. Owners who want no cloud account do not get the scheduled operation this dock is built around.
Small apartments under 1500 sqft
The multifunctional dock is a full-size base, roughly 16 in wide by 19 in deep, close to 300 sq in of floor before approach clearance. In a compact home that footprint and the $899 price buy dock autonomy the layout does not demand.
Frequent manual intervention comfort zone
This robot is designed for scheduled leave-it-alone cycles. If you want to hand-direct cleaning or intervene mid-run, the dock automation offers no benefit.
