Husqvarna Automower 320 NERA

EPOS removes the boundary wire but adds a plug-in kit and, where Wi-Fi does not cover the garden, a fixed reference station. One dependency substitutes for another rather than disappearing.

Sub-centimeter boundary accuracy pairs with bump-sensor-only obstacle detection. Precision positioning does not buy onboard sensing.

Wire-free operation is an add-on rather than a standard fitting. The EPOS Plug-in kit is a separate purchase, so the wire-free configuration and the base machine are two different prices under one model name.

Husqvarna Automower 410VE NERA

EPOS satellite navigation is wire-free, but it is not self-contained: correction data arrives over cellular or Wi-Fi, or from a separately purchased EPOS RS1 reference station, so the boundary depends on a connection that buried wire never needed.

AI Vision removes the wire installation entirely, but the model reached market in 2026, so there is little public record of how vision-assisted boundary holding behaves across several seasons of growth and changing light.

Husqvarna publishes 30 percent (about 17 degrees) inside the installation and 20 percent (about 11 degrees) at the boundary. The boundary figure is the lower of the two and governs where the working area can be drawn, so a bank steeper than 20 percent has to sit inside the area rather than along its edge. Wet turf costs traction below either figure.
Properties with no cellular coverage and no Wi-Fi reach at the lawn
Satellite navigation on this model draws its correction data over cellular or Wi-Fi. Where neither reaches the lawn, positioning depends on buying the optional EPOS RS1 reference station and siting it on the property.

Boundaries are drawn in the Automower Connect app and the mower works from the first run, so nothing is lost to a training period, but a move means re-mapping the property and re-siting the charging station. Intricate perimeters take longer to draw and may need adjustment after the first passes.
