A stain it can see gets washed until it clears; a stain it cannot classify gets the ordinary pass, and Dyson’s own footnote concedes results vary by stain type.

Hot-water roller washing in the dock removes the grimiest chore, at the cost of a dock that heats water to 70°C beside the floor it serves.

iRobot Roomba Max 875 Combo

You are paying for a claimed 3x carpet improvement that nobody outside iRobot has independently measured.

Hot-water roller washing removes manual mop upkeep because the dock handles the wash and dry cycle itself; it also converts a simple nozzle clog into a heating-circuit and pump fault to troubleshoot.

Zero field history at launch: every dependability figure here rests on a spec sheet, not an ownership record.

The 30,000 Pa rating and the near-200-substance recognition are Dyson claims. Dyson's own footnote says results may vary by stain type and severity, and no third-party test exists yet.

Dyson has not published how the wet roller behaves on carpet, whether it lifts, or a carpet cleaning figure for the R3. The stain loop is described only for hard floors.
Shoppers comparing runtime, size and noise before buying

Launch coverage names a camera, green illumination and UV light for stain detection, but Dyson has not described how the R3 maps rooms or which sensors it navigates by.

SealForce lowers a physical skirt around the cleaning head on carpet detection; iRobot has not published guidance on tasseled or loose-weave rugs, and a lowering skirt is a plausible snag point worth flagging.

  • As needed: Empty the bagless dock bin; Dyson claims up to 100 days of dry debris storage, per Journal du Geek.
  • As needed: Refill clean water and empty dirty water; Dyson has not published R3 tank capacities.
  • Weekly: Check the full-width microfiber roller and its 40 mm edge-extension mechanism for wrapped hair.
  • Monthly: Wipe the camera and UV illumination windows so stain recognition is not reading through grime.
  • As needed: Replace the microfiber roller when worn; no interval or part price is published yet.
  • As needed: Clear the dock’s cyclone transfer path if debris stops moving from robot to dock.

  • Weekly: Refill the dock’s clean-water tank and empty any wash-tray residue.
