01 Classification

What each one does on its own.

The Autonomy Ladder is the same five rungs for every robot on the site. A rung describes the conditions a robot handles without you, not how good it is.

V
Generalized
Any task, any setting
IV
Environmental
Handles new obstacles without help
III
Conditional
Finishes familiar jobs on its own

02 Assessment

Where they actually differ.

The Robovations Score is nine inputs across three pillars, each weighted as shown and each scored so that more is better. A robot can lead on one and trail on another, which is the point of showing them apart. Cost of ownership and data handling are reported on each robot's own page and are never averaged into the score.

03 Measured against the class

How far apart is a long way?

A number only means something next to the spread it sits in. Each track below is the real range across every classified robot in the class, with the median marked.

04 Ownership

What the numbers leave out.

The trade-off

What each design gives up to be good at what it is good at.

Dyson R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry

Corner reach is the whole reason for the triangle pads, and the only public demo never pointed them at a corner.

Ninety days between bin emptyings is Dyson’s internal test figure; Dyson itself says real intervals vary with debris, habits and floor type.

Yeedi M14 Plus

The sensors that make obstacle recognition work are a camera and a light in your home: the M14 Plus carries a camera, an LED illuminator and a 3D structured light projector alongside its dToF lidar, and the LED lights the room so the camera can see during runs in the dark.

The station does the mop maintenance, and it is a lot of machine to own: washing the OZMO Roller in 167 F water and hot-air drying it after every run removes the pad chores entirely, at the cost of a station with a water heater, two tanks to fill and empty by hand, and a disposable bag to replace.

Who each one is wrong for

Stated by the record itself. A robot being wrong for a household is a fact about fit, not a fault.

Dyson R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry
Buyers who need independent cleaning tests before buying
No hands-on review had been published by 14 Sep 2026. Expert Reviews watched a Dyson event demo handle salt and water spills, but the demo never showed the R2 cleaning a corner.
Homes over 3,000 sq ft expecting one-charge coverage
Dyson publishes a 90-minute maximum run time and a 6.5-hour charge time, but no coverage area per charge and no statement on recharge-and-resume behavior for long runs.
Homes with rugs in rooms that also get mopped
An ultrasonic sensor detects carpet and adjusts suction, but Dyson's product and FAQ pages do not state whether the wash pads lift or detach before the robot crosses a rug.
US shoppers without a Costco membership
Vacuum Wars describes the US launch as a Costco exclusive, and no other US retailer appeared in the sources read. Dyson's own UK store sells it at £749.99.
Owners who want consumable costs known up front
Dyson sells replacement Reuleaux pads, filters, a brush bar with soleplate, and side sweepers, but the UK product page gives no replacement interval or price for any of them.
Yeedi M14 Plus
Homes where a camera-equipped robot is not wanted
Obstacle recognition on the M14 Plus works from a camera, an LED illuminator and a 3D structured light projector alongside the lidar. The LED lights the room so the camera can see during runs in the dark.
Owners expecting a plumbed-in station
The OMNI Station is filled and emptied by hand. It washes the OZMO Roller from its own clean water tank and collects the used water in a dirty tank, and it empties the robot into a 3 L disposable bag that is replaced rather than emptied.
Multi-floor homes where carrying the robot is impractical
Maps for several floors are stored, but the station lives on one level and the robot has to be carried to the others and back to dock, empty and wash.

What stays your job

The upkeep ownership hands back to you, whatever the autonomy level says.

Dyson R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry
  • After every use: Dock extracts dirty water, washes the Reuleaux pads in 75°C water and dries them with 45°C air automatically.
  • As needed: Empty the dock’s bagless bin, which Dyson rates at up to 90 days on internal test data.
  • As needed: Add Dyson 02 Probiotic cleaning solution to the dock if using it for floor and pad washing.
  • As needed: Replace the Reuleaux triangle wash pads; Dyson sells spares but publishes no interval or price.
  • As needed: Replace the dock and robot filters, sold by Dyson as spares with no published interval.
  • As needed: Replace the anti-tangle brush bar with soleplate and the side sweeper when worn.
Yeedi M14 Plus
  • Weekly: Fill the clean water tank and empty the dirty water tank; check the OZMO Roller and the side brush for wound hair.
  • Every 2-3 weeks: Wipe the lidar window and the camera lens with a soft dry cloth.
  • Monthly: Clear the station’s wash tray, and check the dust bag. The station takes a 3 L disposable bag, which is replaced rather than emptied.
  • Every 3-6 months: Clean the robot’s filter and check the water valve for mineral buildup.
  • Annually: Replace the OZMO Roller and the side brush if worn, and the filter if it no longer clears by tapping.
05 Evidence

How much each of these is standing on.

Classifications rest on different depths of evidence. A pre-release assessment and a verified one are not the same kind of claim.

Robovations classifies robots; it does not rank them. Nothing on this page is a recommendation, and no manufacturer influences a classification or its placement here.
