Beatbot Sora 70

Cordless convenience replaces cable and swivel maintenance, it does not add to it. What you take on instead is charge scheduling and off-season battery storage.

Smart mapping is early-stage for pool cleaners. Independent hands-on reviews published from May 2026 cover floor, wall, waterline and surface performance; what has no record yet is how mapping and coverage hold up across several seasons.

Polaris VRX iQ+

Unlimited runtime from corded architecture replaces battery anxiety with cable management friction and pre-session setup burden.

Onboard Sensor Nav coverage runs without a network and without anything described to it beforehand, and gives up any documented way for the owner to steer, mask or inspect the route it takes.

Who each one is wrong for

Stated by the record itself. A robot being wrong for a household is a fact about fit, not a fault.

Pools with heavy seasonal leaf or algae load
Continuous shedding means emptying the filter between cycles rather than after them, and pre-skimming by hand before a run. That maintenance load exceeds what a daily-use cleaner is meant to absorb.
Above-ground or non-standard pool shapes
Smart mapping designed for in-ground geometry. Ramp access, wall angles, and shallow ledges in above-ground or non-rectangular pools may confound the navigation system.
Owners requiring year-round unattended operation
Battery charge cycles, seasonal winterization, and no reliability record past a first season mean regular owner intervention is mandatory. Not a set-and-forget system.
Polaris VRX iQ+
Cable-averse owners or tight equipment storage
Tether handling is part of every session, and 70 feet of cable needs somewhere to live between runs. Cordless cleaners remove that step in exchange for a runtime bounded by charge.
Pools with complex geometry or non-standard features
Smart-mapping optimized for rectangular/oval layouts. Kidney shapes, spas, or bubblers cause coverage gaps. Manufacturer documentation cites unreliable calibration in complex pools.
Households wanting a cleaner that lives in the pool
The cleaner and its cable come out of the water between runs and before anyone swims, so every cycle is handled at both ends. The Easy Lift system shortens the job but does not remove it.
Pools longer than the 60 foot rating
The VRX iQ+ is rated for in-ground pools up to 60 feet in length. Longer pools and commercial water sit outside what the cleaner and its 70 foot cable are specified to cover.
Owners seeking true set-and-forget operation
Weekly filter cleaning, monthly cable swivel inspection, and seasonal cartridge replacement required. Not autonomous enough for minimal-effort schedules.

  • Weekly: Rinse filter cartridge and brush; check for hair and leaf tangles.
  • Monthly: Inspect dock connectors for corrosion; test app connectivity.
  • Every 3-6 months: Battery charge-hold test; replace brush if fibers worn.
  • Seasonally: Winterization: drain motor cavity and disconnect battery if storing pool cover.
  • As needed: Filter cartridge replacement; brush replacement (cost per unit not documented).
Polaris VRX iQ+
  • After every use: Lift the cleaner out with the Easy Lift system, empty the 5 L canister and rinse the filter media.
  • Weekly: Rinse the canister and media thoroughly, and check the cable and swivel for twists and trapped debris.
  • Monthly: Inspect the drive tracks and brushes for sediment, hair and wear, and check the cable jacket for abrasion.
  • Seasonally: Replace the filter media when rinsing no longer restores flow, and replace the cable swivel if it stiffens or leaks. Polaris Pool publishes no interval or price for either.
  • For winter storage: Rinse the cleaner with fresh water, dry it, coil the cable loosely and store the cleaner and the power supply indoors. The motors are sealed against water; there is no bearing lubrication step and no seal an owner opens.
