What each design gives up to be good at what it is good at.

Beatbot AquaSense

Cordless operation removes cable routing and swivel tangles, and Beatbot publishes up to 3 hours in quick mode and 2.5 in standard, enough for a single session on most residential pools. The trade is that the robot is lifted out and plugged into its charger by hand.

The 150 micron filter and 2 L basket are simple but hands-on: the basket is emptied and rinsed after use, and Beatbot publishes no replacement interval or replacement price for the filter element.

Maytronics Dolphin EON 120d

DebrisLock backwashes in the water the moment the filter starts to clog, but it reduces filter handling rather than removing it: early press testing still found clearing a leaf-packed filter an awkward job.

Cordless operation removes the tether, but the run is bounded by the pack: 1.5, 2 or 2.5 hours per cycle and a lift-out to recharge, against a mains cleaner that keeps going from the outlet.

Beatbot rates the AquaSense for water depth from 0.5 m to 3 m (1.6 to 9.8 ft). Pools deeper or shallower than that fall outside the published range.
Pool floors larger than about 2,260 sq ft or complex multi-level designs
Beatbot's published rating covers pool bottom area up to 210 sq m. Larger surfaces exceed what the manufacturer rates, and multi-level geometry is not addressed in the specification.
Heavy leaf load or year-round debris-intensive environments
Debris collects in a 2 L basket. Sustained heavy leaf fall fills that quickly, so expect to empty after most sessions or choose a machine with more capacity.
Pool owners wanting a hands-off machine
Each cycle involves placing the robot in the pool, retrieving it, emptying and rinsing the 2 L basket, and plugging it in to charge. Nothing about the base model is unattended between sessions.
Maytronics Dolphin EON 120d
Owners who want no battery routine at all
Cordless operation means lifting the robot out to its caddy and charging it off-pool, and keeping the pack topped up through the off-season. Mains-powered cleaners run from an outlet and skip both steps.
Pools under heavy leaf fall where nobody wants to handle the filter
DebrisLock backwashes in the water and cuts how often the filter needs service, but early press testing still found clearing a leaf-packed filter an awkward job. The work is reduced, not removed.
Buyers who want a multi-season service record
The EON line was introduced in January 2026. Battery longevity and long-run reliability data for this generation does not exist yet.

  • After use: Empty and rinse the 2 L filter basket.
  • Monthly: Rinse the filter element thoroughly; inspect brushes for algae buildup.
  • Seasonally: End-of-season rinse and dry the robot and charger before storage.
Maytronics Dolphin EON 120d
  • Weekly: Lift the robot out, open the filter compartment, empty it and rinse with a hose. Maytronics states DebrisLock’s in-water backwash moves this from a daily job to a weekly one, though heavy leaf fall shortens the interval.
  • Monthly: Brush wear check; replace bristles if splayed.
  • Every 3-6 months: Deep rinse the filter assembly.
  • Seasonally: Store the battery charged, not drained, and top it up periodically through the off-season; keep the robot and charger in a dry location.
