Aquabot Breeze IQ

Two active scrubbing brushes take the cleaner up inclines, walls and the waterline as well as across the floor, but coverage comes from a random search pattern rather than a map, so completeness is a function of cycle length rather than of planning.

Maytronics Dolphin Escape

The cycle is fixed and the route belongs to the machine. CleverClean scans the floor for a fixed 1.5 hours with no map to inspect and no way to send it back to a missed area short of running the cycle again.

The Escape is a floor cleaner and does not climb walls or work the waterline. Surface and installation are not constraints: Maytronics rates it for vinyl, fiberglass and gunite, in-ground and above-ground alike.
Pools with heavy waterline algae or mineral deposits
Floor-only coverage leaves waterline untouched. Calcium and algae stains require manual brushing; Escape cannot address them autonomously.
Pools longer than 33 ft
Maytronics rates the Escape for pools up to 33 ft, and the 40 ft cable sets the practical reach. Length and cable run are the limits, not water volume.
Owners with hands-off scheduling expectations
Maytronics lists no timer, Wi-Fi or remote control for the Escape, so it cannot start itself. Every cycle means uncoiling the cable, placing the unit in the pool, switching the power supply on and lifting it back out afterward.

  • Before every use: Confirm the power supply is plugged into a GFCI-protected outlet, and clear large debris and the skimmer basket before running the cleaner. Remove the cleaner from the water before anyone swims.
  • After each cycle: Lift out both micro-filter baskets, rinse them with a garden hose, and refit them. Check the brushes for tangled hair or debris.
  • Weekly: Rinse the housing; check the cable and its anti-tangle swivel for kinks or abrasion.
  • Every 2-3 seasons: Replace the scrubbing brushes if the contact surfaces show fraying or wear.
  • Seasonally: Inspect the cable and power supply for cracks, cuts or corrosion, and replace rather than repair a damaged cable; store the cleaner and supply indoors over the winter off-season.
Maytronics Dolphin Escape
  • After every cycle: Lift out the top-loading filter cartridge and rinse it with a hose. A loaded filter costs suction directly. Check the cable for tangles and debris.
  • Monthly: Clear debris lodged in the HyperGrip treads and check the tracks for visible wear.
  • Annually: Check the filter cartridge for tears. Maytronics publishes no replacement interval or service schedule for the filter or the tracks.
  • Seasonally: Drain residual water from the unit, then store it and the cable indoors to prevent UV and freeze damage.
