Roborock

Up to three
All robot vacuums. Every figure below is placed against the whole class, so a gap can be read against how much the class itself varies.
The conditions each robot was assessed against, side by side. Rows marked in gold are where these machines genuinely differ.
| Condition | Roborock Saros Z70 | Roborock S8 Max Ultra… |
|---|---|---|
| Home size | ||
| Under 1,500 sqft | GoodDock footprint requires 60cm clearance; works in compact homes but arm extension demands floor space. | GoodRoborock lists up to 180 minutes of runtime, and the dock handles water without refills. |
| 1,500 – 3,000 | GoodIdeal range for Z70. Arm value peaks in large homes with predictable clutter patterns. | GoodIndependent lab testing saw nearly perfect coverage, and plumbing removes tank refills on long runs. |
| Over 3,000they differ | Good180-minute runtime covers most large homes in one session; multiple rooms benefit from learned mapping. | DependsIndependent lab testing rated its navigation efficiency about average, and no large-home test was found. |
| Primary floors | ||
| Hard floors | GoodSonic mopping delivers strong results on tile and vinyl. Pressure adjustment optimizes per-surface cleaning. | GoodIndependent lab testing found near-perfect debris pickup and strong stain removal on hard floors. |
| Low / medium pile | GoodLiDAR and object detection navigate low-pile reliably. Mopping compatible with light carpet edge zones. | GoodIndependent lab testing found carpet pickup nearly perfect, and pads lift 20 mm to stay dry. |
| High pile / shag | DependsSuction (4000 Pa) performs adequately on high-pile but mopping effectiveness degrades. Owner reports show manual intervention needed. | DependsIndependent lab testing rated its airflow and carpet deep clean below average, and no high-pile test was found. |

A robot being poor for a condition is a fact about fit, not a fault. “Depends” means the record names a limit worth reading, not that the answer is unknown.
Nine inputs across three pillars, each weighted as shown and each scored so more is better. A robot can lead on one and trail on another, which is the point of showing them apart.
A number only means something next to the spread it sits in. Each track is the real range across every classified robot in the class, with the median marked.
Not compared, because fewer than two of these robots carry a published figure: Charge time, Noise, Weight.
Written on each record, and the only thing here every robot on the site carries.
What each design gives up to be good at what it is good at.
The OmniGrip arm adds autonomous item pickup, a real capability, but operates on the robot’s terms: shape and weight constraints mean manual intervention remains necessary for fragile and irregular objects.
The flagship price reflects integrated dock and arm, yet mid-tier Roborock models deliver comparable Level III autonomy for half the cost, making the arm itself a premium component for specific use cases only.
The dock takes over every water chore, and in exchange it needs plumbing work before its first run.
Structured-light obstacle avoidance keeps a camera out of the home; independent lab testing found the camera model avoided obstacles better.
Stated by the record itself. A robot being wrong for a household is a fact about fit, not a fault.
The upkeep ownership hands back to you, whatever the autonomy level says.
Classifications rest on different depths of evidence. A pre-release assessment and a verified one are not the same kind of claim.

Evidence status counts the sources behind a classification, not their kind. A high count can be maker documentation and price coverage, so read it as how much was reviewed rather than as independent testing. How we weigh evidence.
