Narwal Freo Pro

The floating brush solves a real pain point, but 8,500 Pa suction sits below flagship-class vacuums, so the hair advantage comes with no carpet-cleaning upgrade. That shortfall reads differently at street prices near $300 than at the $699.99 list.

Roborock Q5 Pro+

A bag-only dock and no camera obstacle avoidance keep the price down, but the floor has to be picked up before a run, and no-go zones do the work a flagship’s camera would do while cleaning.

8,500 Pa is mid-range and the floating roller design optimizes for hair rather than deep-pile extraction. Homes dominated by plush or high-pile carpet are asking for more suction than this machine offers.

  • Weekly: Refill the dock clean-water tank and empty the waste tank (1-2 minutes).
  • Monthly: Check floating-brush perimeter for hair wrap; remove with tweezers.
  • About every 7 weeks: Replace the dock dust bag. The base empties the robot’s bin into a 1 L bag that Narwal rates for up to seven weeks, so there is no routine manual dustbin emptying.
  • Every 3-6 months: Filter rinse and visual dock-pad inspection.
  • Annually: Replace mop pads (estimated $40-80 per pair based on category; Narwal-specific pricing TBD).
Roborock Q5 Pro+
  • Weekly: Check the DuoRoller rubber brushes for wrapped hair. The all-rubber dual-roller design resists wrapping, but long hair still collects at the bearings. Rinse the mop pad after a mopping run and refill the tank before the next one.
  • Monthly: Filter cleaning or replacement (HEPA cost ~$12); dock inlet and brush inspection.
