Dreame
Up to three
All robot vacuums. Every figure below is placed against the whole class, so a gap can be read against how much the class itself varies.
The conditions each robot was assessed against, side by side. Rows marked in gold are where these machines genuinely differ.
| Condition | Dreame X40 Ultra |
|---|---|
| Home size | |
| Under 1,500 sqft | GoodRuntime caps at 150 min; may need two cycles for thorough coverage. Dock placement becomes critical in small spaces. |
| 1,500 – 3,000 | GoodIdeal operating range. Single charge covers most 1500-3000 sqft layouts with LiDAR efficiency. Dock footprint (680mm) fits typical utility closets. |
| Over 3,000 | DependsFull coverage may require multiple scheduled sessions. Large open plans benefit from multi-floor memory if homes span 3+ levels. |
| Primary floors | |
| Hard floors | GoodDual mops deliver superior agitation on tile, laminate, and vinyl. Designed specifically for sealed hard-floor performance. Edge detection effective on defined transitions. |
| Low / medium pile | DependsSuction handles low-pile carpet; mop pads lift to avoid wetting, with reduced cleaning effect on carpeted areas. |
| High pile / shag | PoorDual mop pads clog frequently on shag and high-pile fibers. Owner reports document weekly manual cleaning required instead of monthly dock-only maintenance. |
| Mopping needs | |
| Vacuum only | GoodStrong vacuum; the mop lifts or detaches when not needed. |
| Light mopping | GoodActive mopping system covers routine floors easily. |
| Frequent mopping | GoodPressure or rotating mop with self-wash is built for frequent mopping. |
| Upkeep you accept | |
| Regular upkeep | GoodAbout 60 minutes of upkeep a month. |
| Some upkeep | GoodAbout 60 minutes of upkeep a month. |
| Minimal upkeep | DependsAbout 60 minutes of upkeep a month. Minimal is 30 or less. |
A robot being poor for a condition is a fact about fit, not a fault. “Depends” means the record names a limit worth reading, not that the answer is unknown.
Nine inputs across three pillars, each weighted as shown and each scored so more is better. A robot can lead on one and trail on another, which is the point of showing them apart.
A number only means something next to the spread it sits in. Each track is the real range across every classified robot in the class, with the median marked.
These robots share no measured specification with enough published figures to plot. That is a gap in the record, not a finding about the robots.
Written on each record, and the only thing here every robot on the site carries.
What each design gives up to be good at what it is good at.
The station detaches the mop pads before carpet and refits them for the hard floors, so one run covers both surfaces, at the cost of a station standing 590.5 mm tall that needs a permanent spot.
The station automates pad removal, washing, drying and bin emptying, yet concentrates the remaining effort into water refills and dust bag changes that still require the owner.
LiDAR multi-floor memory reduces retraining labor but locks owners into stable floorplans, penalizing frequent furniture rearrangement with retraining cycles.
Stated by the record itself. A robot being wrong for a household is a fact about fit, not a fault.
The upkeep ownership hands back to you, whatever the autonomy level says.
Classifications rest on different depths of evidence. A pre-release assessment and a verified one are not the same kind of claim.

Evidence status counts the sources behind a classification, not their kind. A high count can be maker documentation and price coverage, so read it as how much was reviewed rather than as independent testing. How we weigh evidence.
Robovations classifies robots; it does not rank them. Nothing on this page is a recommendation, and no manufacturer influences a classification or its placement here.
Comparing across classes is allowed — the page will switch to per-class positioning and tell you it has.
