  • Seasonally: Inspect perimeter wire for breaks or corrosion; test continuity with a simple tone generator (~$15 tool).
  • Blade changes: Replace the four steel cutters as a set once edges are dull, chipped or bent. They are replace-only consumables: grinding a thin pivoting cutter thins the steel and unbalances the disc on a machine that runs unattended. Optional star blades fit the same mount.
